Running the Show Change

Hey everyone,

Do you think 343i is able to reduce the amount of points it takes to get General Rank? I know they’ve already been reduced but do you think there is a possibility for it to happen again?

I’m about a third of the way there and I feel it is a daunting task.

You have no idea how easy it is to get to General now with the 960,000 goal. Before the 960k, it was 2.4 million, and before that, it was 3.2 million. It seriously takes a few weeks to get to General now. I’m not kidding, I had a friend make a new account and he made it to Brig in about a week.

Could you give me some tips then? Should I just keep playing or is there a special boosting method?

Realistically, playing Standard to win quickly is the best way for you to improve your skill and most consistent way to get points without wasting time, though you’ll be getting it in small spurts. I can’t tell you how many Generals I’ve played that play like I did back before I was a Major (summer '09 whoo!), so cheesing every game will not only get you to about 30 TS or higher, but it’ll give you a consistent thousand for most of your games, provided you’re the one who gets the base kill.

One way to get big points is to super turtle, but that’ll give you a lot of inconsistent games and sometimes, you’ll waste an hour on a game where the other team pushes maybe once and quits because they’re too bad.

Alright I’ll have to try that out. I’ve been playing 3v3 and haven’t really mastered the art of cheesing or rushing.

There’re plenty of Youtube channels out there of good players. Whether or not those players are “really” high level or not shouldn’t matter, since all of the channels I’ve seen, even from laughable “high level” players, can all teach you how to rush effectively.
