So I heard rumors thathalo 5 was half off between the dates of June 29 and I think July 2 or 3, but for those who already owned Halo 5 they would receive a free digital version if they had xbox live gold. Is this rumor true, and if it is do you mind explaining how to receive it?

Why not in case if my physical disc is ruined or lost, why not have a backup digital copy just in case?

It’s basically a 7 days window for people to play Halo 5 for free. If they like it, they can buy it a bit cheaper before the price goes back up
Regardless if it is free, it is only free to play for some x amount of days to get more to play the game and to buy it, but to be honest the people commenting on whether or not it is free? are probably going to already own a copy of the game like myself.

yea it’s pretty much aimed at people who don’t own the game yet. I’ve been seeing lots of new, unranked players lately too, so apparently the promotion is working.

It’s a free play weekend. If you have gold, but don’t have the game you can download it and play for the weekend, sort of like an extended demo. It’s a good idea if they want to boost sales
You temporarily don’t have to put the disc in to your Xbox One to play the game. Its actually cool for me because I only have one copy of the game, but I’m able to play 2 players with my fiance now because we borrowed her brothers Xbox.
