RR on PC - Can anyone explain this to me?

The latest blog post about the Tech Preview 2 mentioned the decision around removing red reticle on PC due to cheats. Here’s the blurb:

Another part of the confusion and frustration around aiming also likely stemmed from the removal of red reticle in online multiplayer on PC. We knew it would be controversial, but we trust our team when they say this will cut out another potential cheating vector. We saw quite a few of people say, “just build a better anti-cheat system,” which isn’t really the right way to look at it. “Building a better anti-cheat system” involves taking preventative measures across the entire game, wherever possible, to reduce the ease of creating cheats. This is one of those small steps that contributes to a larger anti-cheat strategy across the entire game.

What I don’t understand is how this is an issue with Infinite on PC, but not a problem at all with MCC on PC. I fired up the game again today just to make sure I wasn’t losing my marbles and, sure enough, red reticle is there. I can’t say I’ve run into cheaters in the game with 450+ hours played on steam. I know some people have, but it’s nowhere near as bad as CoD.

Is this just a problem because of the F2P model vs paywalled MCC? I’d think that if it was so easy to exploit, even paid players would be cheating via RR on MCC…

What am I missing?

Quite honestly, it doesn’t make much sense to me either.

All I know is they’re creating a game where the experience is going to vary wildly from system, game mode, input device, etc.

I fear it will be disjointed and that’s going to turn a lot of people away at the end.

MCC isn’t F2P.

You mean that game that is actually popular? no duh.

This point you made is stupid, Pro players all play on controller from what I can gather, and even if they didn’t hacking/cheating would surely lead to possible suspensions and/or lower viewership.

Why would you assume that pro players exploit games? Seems silly since it’s their livelihood. I’m talking about your run of the mill basement troll with nothing to lose.
