Roland

I just realized Roland (infinity’s AI) could have a major impact on the way Halo 6 plays out. He could join Cortana and kill the Infinity’s crew, giving the ship to Cortana, or he could lead an AI rebellion against Cortana. (fight fire with fire) (very unlikely, but a cool concept) He could do several things that influence the Halo universe greatly. Or he couldn’t. This is, of course, speculation.

Roland and Cortana sitting in a tree…

I like this idea, I did wonder what factors determined that Roland would stay loyal. It be very interesting to see what happens with him, he seems to have a degree of respect and attachment to Cortana.

Well, Cortana does mention that she COULD NOT find the Infinity. Most likely thanks to it being half promethean half human.

I do not think she even offered Roland a chance to join her by the time she appeared on the Infinity at the end of the game.

Like.

I suspect, if you recall Cortana’s episode in Halo 4 aboard the Infinity, Roland was there. Maybe not in that cutscene, but he’s the ship’s AI. They were both in the ship’s system … I assume he saw how broken she was. Perhaps that made him a little apprehensive and skeptical of her in Halo 5 when she put out her call to all AI.

I actually really disliked Roland until Halo 5 came out. Now I really enjoy his character and would love to see him play a bigger role in future games.

I thought that Roland was made after the events of 4, and that the AI originally on the ship was destroyed in the crash? I thought Roland wasn’t around until Spartan Ops…

Thing about Cortana’s Created allies from what I can only assume is that some may have been close to rampant or rampant. Roland is still fairly young and may not have been swayed by Cortana’s arguments of immortality.

Roland initially does not join Cortana because he is not rampant. He’ll certainly play a role tho, or I hope so because I like the character

He gets really defensive about Cortana in the opening Cutscene where Lasky and Halsey are discussing the Chief leaving and Cortana re-emerging.

Roland actually entered service shortly after the events of Halo 4, by roughly five months. The original AI, Aine, was destroyed during the first campaign, in fact I think she was destroyed during the initial attack after being stuck in the gravity well.

Are you sure? I’m pretty sure he was there in the Kilo Five books when Halsey was installing the engines spying on her … someone help here, now I’m not sure.

… okay, that was the AI from the book, wasn’t it? My bad.

Roland didn’t join Cortana because he’s a new AI and isn’t entering rampancy of any sort yet. What about FERO and black box? I really hope they don’t join Cortana. I liked them.

Is Roland considerd the same kind of smart AI Cortana is?

Well, in the end of the game she did find the infinity, didn’t she?

Nah, Roland will not betrayed Infinity because the bromance he built with the captain…

He still sides with her during that one cutscene with Locke, Lasky, and Palmer, about her going “rogue” is just her trying to live and she shouldn’t be condemned for it. He gets actually angry at the crew, talking out of line and such.

While it’s likely he’s going to end up being a mole for the Created pretending to still side with humanity, I really hope he stays as a sort of Anti-Cortana, combating her in a game of cyberwarfare, keeping her out of Infinity’s systems, etc. Like EDI in Mass Effect against the Reapers.

When i read Roland i thought about Borderlands , you know . Played that game too much.
