Rocket Warthog Thoughts?

What do you guys think of the Rocket Warthog? I see why they lowered the rocket power so its not like someone is repeatedly shooting with the power of a normal rocket but. Do you think they lowered it to much? Do you like how it shoots 7 rockets with one trigger pull? I just want to know some of your thoughts.

Mine personal opinion is, its cool, but I don’t think it has a point. Its really not that amazing. The 7 shots per one trigger pull gets kinda annoying. And If a regular warthog and a rocket were my options, I’d pick regular. I just think its kinda pointless. Well not like pointless pointless, but the kind of pointless where if they took it out, I wouldn’t even notice.

Well, like I said, thats just me. What your thoughts on it? Would you have made it differently?

It’s more of an anti-air vehicle than anything.

In my opinion, i dislike the rocket hog. It fires too many rockets at once, and it hard to control. I find myself often flipping the vehicle and blowing up my own vehicle because of it. I would rather the casual turret hog be put in firefight in Reach.

Umm if they had made each rocket half the power of a normal rocket it would’ve been fine. But they’re too weak and too inaccurate… and too slow for my taste. The gauss hog. That’s overpowered:D

Goes to work on making a map with a flat open area and a gauss hog inside of a sealed room that you can see through… and a teleporter leading to it… in a super secret place;) bwah hahaha

It shoot six rockets each time BTW. But I guess its all right, if they can adjust bloom and pistol power after the TU though they should definitely make it so you can adjust the power of the rocket hog too. Just a thought.

I think that the Rocket Hog is too weak. But I would only suggest a slight damage boost, nothing to make it overpowered. xP

I detest the lack of the regular Warthog in Firefight maps. I thought that Unearthed should of had one, especially considering its similarity to Lost Platoon. But I can always hope that a Lost Platoon remake could happen for the future. :slight_smile:

I would like to see some map variations released by the developer that have more vehicles in Firefight, if possible. Like the Halo 3 map variations released by Bungie. Just adding a couple of Mongooses in this corner, a Revenant other there, etc. I think it would be really nice. And add some more replayability, of course.

I like it, for the most part. It’s not used too much in matchmaking, so I guess I like it for anit-air purposes. Like a mobile missile pod.

It’s like Gauss but without the skill or precision or fun.

I want to see more Gauss hog, and I miss the Rocket Hog from CE.

I think the 6-rockets-salvo is a bit much and sometimes quite annoying. It’s easy to flip your own Warthog and even damage yourself and driver/passenger if you’re going full speed, fire the salvo to the left or right, and then pass by an obstacle like a rock or wall.

It’s also kinda silly that each single rocket is that weak. That makes the Rocket Hog look kinda pointless although it’s actually a cool vehicle.

I’d really love to see the salvo reduced to four or maybe only two rockets but with increased damage just for curiosity’s sake.

The whole “7 rockets” thing is ridiculous, its over a two second fire time, and nearly a two second cool-down between each firing. Maybe I’m just bad, but whenever I try to use it I end up doing more damage to the Hog and myself then other players. With the Laser, Sniper, Rocket/Grenade/Plasma Launcher and even the DMR, we don’t really need another anti-aircraft option, let alone a vehicle. Coupled with the amount of damage each rocket does, it makes it virtuously useless unless firing at an aircraft. Ever tired firing at a one enemy while driving full speed? It’s hard as hell to kill them, it takes nearly 4 rockets head-on to kill.

There’s a reason the rocket hog is only on a few maps, it’s a good idea on paper, but not that great in the game. I’d suggest replacing the rocket hog with the Gauss hog, but nerf the damage for the Gauss; make it a two-hit kill instead of an instakill.
