ROCK THE VOTE! Instant Respawn - Good or Bad?

While Halo 4 may have some issues, one thing 343i improved upon was pacing. Reach had slowed multiplayer gameplay way down, but Halo 4’s time-to-death and general game flow feels more in line with Halo 2.

However the combination of default sprint and instant respwans sometimes makes the pace too fast. I don’t like that I can encounter two opponents, kill one, and he can instantly spawn and sprint back into the fight in 5 seconds to help his teammate kill me.

But sprint isn’t the problem here. With the larger maps, it helps you travel quickly without a vehicle. Instant respwans need to go.

Also, you can’t watch me -Yoink!- you if you instantly respwan.

Vote and discuss.

Instant respawn is fine. Default sprint is fine. The spawning system is what’s causing your perceived problem with both those topics.

Incorrect. In previous Halo games killing an enemy eliminated them from the battle for 5 seconds, while they waited to respawn. But, in Halo 4, players instantly rejoin the battle upon death, through the skillful art of mashing X, and can sprint right back into a firefight.

Yes the spawing system does play a part in how quickly your enemy can attack you again. However, the issue here is that the 5 second window of removing a dead opponent from the game has not only been removed, but coupled with a default sprint. This combination allows a killed enemy to rejoin and attack you more than twice as fast as in previous Halo games. Which in my opinion, is too fast.

Dang it! I meant to say no! Ah well, count it -1…

No, it’s not the spawn system. It’s true that the sprint and instant respawn make things a lot faster. IMO, Halo 4 would’ve been okay with just sprint without instant respawn.

Instant spawning is terrible. Most of the time, i get killed by the same person before my shields recharge.

It’s not Halo, it has to go with along with the DMR

Yup, this is incredibly annoying. Sprint is a nice addition to Halo, but the instant spawns suck.

I am not the biggest fan of Instant Respawn. Sure it’s nice that i get a kill of a respawn but what did i do to earn that?

The problem here with it is that the shield recharge delay is too slow for the fast paced spawning. It’s at 7 seconds by default. It needs to be brought down to 5 to allow you recover faster after killing someone but not fast enough where you recover shields too quickly (4 seconds and below will cause this, which is bad for gameplay).

Agreed
