If any of you have played the recent Call of Duty series (which I’m sure most of you have), you’ll have noticed how poor the Halo emblem system is in terms of customization in comparison to a game like Call of Duty Black Ops.
Now, I know that emblems don’t exactly matter to some, but I reckon it should still feature to those who like being creative and making some really awesome emblems. The emblem system could also allow for you buying new emblem pictures (much like you do in Black Ops).
I’m the last person in the world that would say I prefer Call of Duty over Halo, because Halo is still truly my favourite game series, however, I do find it necessary for a new system like this to take place. In Halo:Reach the emphasis was on making a Spartan that would be yours and that it would be unique. Now I know that in Halo 4 you’ll be playing as a character that has his own persona in terms of armour and that you won’t be able to customize him (the Master Chief), but for multiplayer matchmaking I can only see this being a good thing)
You should be able to start off with a blank emblem and from there combine emblems and move and rotate them in which ever way you see fit.
I would like you to take a little bit of time to understand if this is really worth it or should 343 just leave it out?
I can tell from your post that you have obviously played Black Ops, so you know that there are SO MANY sexual emblems that people make on there. That alone is reason enough not to do it that way in Halo 4, but instead, add more emblem pieces, as well as the ones already in the game, and allow us to put more than two things for our emblem, as well as a larger color palette for our armor and emblem. Letting us make our emblems like Black Ops-style means that all the pervs playing Halo will have nasty pictures of guys’ not-so-good stuff or womens’ good stuff and no one wants to see that all day. That’s one thing that bugs the hell out of me in Black Ops. That, and seeing crappy emblems where someone just threw togther some random emblem pieces and didn’t try to make a cool emblem that can obviously be done with the Black Ops emblem system. It doesn’t bother me in Halo because all emblems can look decent or cool in Halo.
Don’t get me wrong, I love how Treyarch allows us to make our own emblems, but there will always be people to mess it up by making sexual emblems.
i hope they never do it like that in Halo, or at least reset the emblems of those who do it if they ever do emblems like Black Ops in Halo and eventually ban them from creating emblems if they do it too many times.

Well to back up my argument you’ve basically helped me out there. Trust me, the last thing I want is to have pervs playing Halo like they do Call of Duty. I would like to see some punishment for those who would use the system incorrectly. My only problem with the current system in Halo is that I feel a little bit cramped with what I have to work with, and the icons themselves aren’t really all that appealing, so why not let us make our own?
I’d just rather have more emblems to choose from to be honest. In Reach, all of my favourite emblems got taken out, so I’m hoping that 343 will bring them back in Halo 4.

What were your favourite emblems? Wouldn’t it be so much better to make your own. Honestly, you can have the best of both worlds then.

Its a normal part of life. grow up.
THe black ops system of emblems is a fantastic feature that halo should take. afterall cod added theater. People who are against such a system need to loosen up.

Its socially unacceptable. Its rude, its crude, and it isnt relevant to the game. Seriously, why are people like that? inb4 you say something about how its an M for mature game. That rating apparently means we should post crap about our genitals. Im up for more emblems but we should be able to report inappropriate emblems the same way we report inappropriate screen shots from the file share.

How is it not “relevant” to the game? They made an emblem in the emblem system that the game provides. So it’s relevant to the game. It doesn’t matter what emblem they come up with. It’s still relevant to the game becasue they used the emblem system to make it.

It would just be a bunch of genitalia emblems, people pooping, swastikas and pretty much the most childish stuff imaginable. Nope I must say I disagree.
I do agree that CoD has a very creative emblem system. The problem, however, is the immature a-holes who will use sexual images. So, I think 343i should just give a wide assortment of emblems. Much wider than before. With expanded layers.

Immature kids making them, either that or really anti-social folks who sits inside playing games 24/7. Take a pick.
OT: It would be hard to implent a similar thing from Black ops, you ever been in a match filled with so many sexual pictures? It is disgusting.
I think this emblem system would be really awesome. Even though there were immature emblems out there, there were also a large handful of very imaginative and creative ones that really took some skill to make. I had a really awesome emblem in the game that I made and I would constantly get messages from people who were really inspired to make their own awesome creations.
I think it would be nice to have an emblem system in Halo 4 like Blops’ so you can actually feel proud of your very own unique identity in a way and show it off to the world

What I like doing is going onto YouTube, and seeing what emblems people came up with in the game. If you know how, you can pretty much make any emblem you can think of. The one I’m using is the Firefox emblem.

Well like mentioned, its basically a proper emblem system that you can make extremely cool things from. I’ve seen the ‘inheritor’ emblem on black ops… if you ask me thats pretty damn cool.
Well, taking a look at what happened with Black Ops’ Emblem Creator, I can’t see 343i implementing such freedom with their Emblems…
…But they could still improve the Emblem Creator, right now we only have two layers essentially, they could improve on it and do something along the lines of…
-Layer 1 Symbol
-Layer 2 Symbol
-Layer 3 Symbol
–Add as many more as you think appropriate
-Back ground Panel
-Effect
…that way you get more freedom with your designs, and the hellish crap that came with Black Ops’ system would be absent…
I like the emblem system (I use a pony as my emblem) but noone uses it for actual uses. Its always genitalia, swastikas, and other undesirable images. Reporting seldom does anything.
But if 343i wants to give us more customizing of emblems im all for it
People/kids will always find a way to make things inappropriate - but why should I suffer because of other peoples choses…
I hope they give us more emblems in H4 but if not it wont stop anyone from buying the game…
