We are almost in May. Assuming Halo Infinite still launches with the Series X, we are talking about a possible September - November launch window.
We have had two trailers - one confirmed to be the first cut scene of the game. When are we getting new info and what are we getting before launch?
- May - June: A time, historically, that Xbox has been super vocal about new consoles and new games. We know there will be a Series X showcase, but will Infinite be there? Maybe. My question is, what else would they be showing if not their flagship IP that is launching alongside the new console? Then there is the E3-like digital event. Halo will be here, but in what capacity? With Halo 5 we got a campaign level played and warzone demo playable at E3. We at home were able to see campaign and new warzone in action - not able to play ourselves. 343 has stated multiple times that they will have demos going forward. Are we getting this when the digital event launches? If not, when? - July - August: If the demo/flighting system has not been released yet, this is a good time. They would get tons of players over summer - especially this summer if things stay the way they are. What kind of demo? My impression would be arena multiplayer and warzone, but at different times. They need to work on both to perfect it. They need to test the servers and what the game is like in the wild. Could we get a campaign demo? Awesome to think about, but it has never happened. - September - October: Flighting system continues and updates are made. The game is launching on Gamepass. I am fine with testing it until launch. Throw in different game modes every week. Start with 4v4 game modes and warzone and add BTB, Infection, and others later to make sure everything works. They need to focus on the most important things, and Team Slayer and Warzone will be the most played.Am I missing anything before launch?
Wait, it was confirmed that the E3 trailer from last year was the actual first cutscene of the game? That doesn’t seem good because there’s absolutely no flow from the ending of 5 to that cutscene

I’m sure it’s a shortened version of it. Opening cinematics for Halo are always long.

Well, as Slippery Pnut said, it’s probably not the full length of it. The part before the Chief just walks and tears the cords off might be a calibrating thing akin to the original Halos, and there might be more shown. Regarding the flow from Halo 5, 343 said that Infinite would be a starting point for new players or a “soft reboot” that would remove itself a bit from Halo 5’s story while still keeping Halo 5’s Created storyline, which was the whole purpose of Infinite taking place a few years after Halo 5.
I wouldn’t be worried. The first cutscene takes place in 2561 but 2018’s trailer takes place in 2560, meaning that the bulk of the game might be a flashback from where there will be more connection to Halo 5.

Yeah, the Halo 5 trailer with Osiris dropping in, was actually second to Halsey’s monologue in her office, so there’s a chance that the Discover Hope scene will be prefaced by something.

I think that trailer was made just to show off the engine.

Unfortunately not.
The studio head from 343 said it was the opening sequence during an interview at E3 last year.

that could mean first cutscene for the first playable mission. all the other games had intro cutscenes that were presented as their own mission so maybe that will serve as a recap or something since it takes place around 2 years after halo 5.

Talking about the first trailer. Not the one from last year.

Oh yeah, that was just a tech demo.
But in regards to the main point of the thread, we didn’t get engine tech demos for the likes of Halo 3, Reach or 4.

Well that’s because they were using the same engine I do believe. They made a new one from scratch for Halo Infinite.

I know, but the point I was making is that in terms of general info 343 have released so far, we’ve gotten more that we would have for the previous games.
Tech demo or not, its still a trailer for fans to get excited about.
There should be a Beta coming out soon. There is not much time and Halo Infinite is a big deal.
Halo 5´s Beta launched almost a year before its release.
Halo Reach´s Beta launched in May.
I think May/june is a good time for a Beta. They need some time for updates and changes
