I have looked into this very question through ALL online sources and there is no consistent answer. I have found a lot of players have their own opinions but I’m looking for anyone that has facts. What exactly is it that gets you the Road Trip medal? Does ANYONE know?

That is one of the answers that I was able to find. And that is the correct answer for the road trip “medal”. However, the Spartan Company Commendation says that road trip is killing an enemy Spartan with a ground vehicle. Is there a difference between the medal and the commendation or are they one and the same?
For the company commendation you need to get a kill while driving a warthog, mongoose, mantis, scorpion, ghost, or wraith. Passenger and turret kills do not count

I can see that your Spartan Company has completed ALL kill Commendation (congratulation btw) so it COULD be unwise of me to doubt what you are saying. However… I got 25 Scorpion kills a day ago and our Company’s road trip Commendation count only went up by 17. I was not the only active member during this time so I don’t know if that 17 increase was because of my efforts or someone else’s. That being shared I have to ask. Is the information you are providing FACT?

It’s possible that the company page just wasn’t refreshing. Sometimes it could take a while for waypoint to sync. When we would finish commendations I would refresh the page repeatedly and occasionally the progress would show that they were still pending completion, even up to a few hours after they were done. I knew they were done though because I already had the req packs in game for completing the commendations in question.
As far as if what I say is fact or not, I completely understand not immediately trusting what someone says on a forum. I actually encourage that because I believe that testing something for yourself is the only way you can be sure of something. I know that what I said is true because of extensive testing I did with a test company that only consisted of me and 3 friends who had never even played Halo 5. I’ve also grinded through Achillies start to finish two times. If you have any questions about other commendations I will be happy to share what I know

THIS… This right here. This is the confirmation I am looking for. I too do extensive testing, if needed, and only after research. So thank you. I will continue to conduct my personal testing but your confidence in your research has cleared up a few potential uncertainties in my initial research phase
Another thing to be aware of is that in warzone if you kill both spartans and AI marines with the scorpion at the end of the game it may say 25 kills with scorpion but only 17 of those were spartans and 8 were marines. That commendation only counts spartans so you can get a bit of a false reading. In WZA assault I was had like 30 kills and at the end of the game my tool of destruction was the pistol with more kills than I had because of the AI marines I had killed.

You know… I hadn’t even considered this. Thank you. Taking this information into account and applying it to my game time today testing all ground vehicles I can conclude that all information provided thus far seams to be accurate. More testing for 100% certainty is needed of course
Update:
After hours of game play I have finally come to an accurate factual conclusion regarding this topic. The Spartan Company Commendation “Road Trip” can be achieved by ANY ground vehicle (including ones that hover like the Ghost and Wraith). You get credit towards THIS for splatter or killing with the vehicles primary firing weapon. The ONLY condition is that you MUST be in the driver seat when the kill is achieved. That means you cannot be a passenger or a gunner to get this commendation. Only the driver gets credit for the kill. This is ONLY for the Spartan Company Commendation and does not apply to the in game medal with the same name.

That is correct. You get wheelman commendations for in game achievements but this does not count towards Spartan Company Commendations
