Hey everyone, I am somewhat new to these forums but have been playing Halo ever since CE. I initially got onto here trying to resolve a problem, but once I read pages upon pages of complaining I felt I should help people understand how the game works.
Recently I have been getting into the DMR OP discussions, reading what people have been saying and then me dropping in trying to set things straight. A few minutes ago someone made the comment to challenge me. I first laughed while reading it, but felt this might be the perfect opportunity for me to settle things once and for all. I am not into the whole 1 v 1 thing, but am willing to end this debate once and for all. Proving that player skill is what gets the kill, not the weapon.
Said player will be using the “OP” DMR
vs
Me “Rizebowl” using the BR, LR, Carbine, Etc.
I am even willing to use the AR and other weapons, whatever it takes to show people that the DMR is perfectly fine the way it is. Skill is what gets the kill, not the weapon.
All matches will happily be recorded and uploaded to youtube and reposted here on the forums. Would people be willing to watch, settling this whole DMR is OP thing?
> Yes! Please do it to the Boltshot too! Make 'em see it’s only good in it’s niche: CqC. Thank you ever so much! You are one of my forum HEROES!

I don’t know what HWF means but okay haha, thanks.
Eh, I can’t really call the DMR OP, I’m just damn tired of everyone having one all the time. DMR & Power weapons, thats what Halo has been reduced to with the load out system.

Should technically be testable simultaneously with the gunplay- the Truskill in this game thus far as seemed pretty great if you ask me. I’m not getting paired with clueless morons nor am I playing with people that make me look like a clueless moron.
The skillgap should be pretty small for his recordings if he’s played enough to get a nice truskill niche to settle into.

It’s meant to be used for long range combat. It is used for that…but it also can be used in close quarters, mid range, etc. That was supposed to be the BR’s Niche.
Eh, it’s not that great of a test. I think, to get the big picture, we need a spreadsheet of BR users killing DMR users and BEING killed by them, from multiplayer matchmaking data.
Your test doesn’t factor in team elements like cleaning up another player’s kill or teamshotting.

This won’t actually prove anything unless you happened to be challenged by someone with EXACTLY the same skill level as you and run numerous trials on numerous maps.
They aren’t going to “resolve” anything. Player skill is a huge part in the outcome of a gunfight in H4. If two players of equal skill were to play, one using the BR, the other the DMR, the DMR user would come out on top because
A) It preforms better in all ranges
and
B) It’s a lot easier to use
My issue is the ease of use and the tactics that take advantage of the weapons strengths. Squatting around the perimeters just taking pot shots. The weapon just isn’t fun to deal with. Not difficult. Just getting boring.
That said, the DMR is the most capable standard precision in the Halo series. It’s accuracy at great range is unmatched in the series. On maps with open sightlines it is just not fun.

I am right there with you, but because of the fact that people are saying it will beat BR hands down everytime long range - mid range - close range, I feel I have to test out everything in order to satisfy everyone proving that the DMR is not OP. It’s simply because of player skill.
