Just thought I’d share and ask a few questions about the risk/reward ratio of investing into an armory. I’ve noticed, with the exception of Reinforcements, I don’t really find myself investing much into it lately. I use the power for base building and unit production, and I find myself wary to put power into any upgrade. I find this odd since it is technically a T1 building with several T1 upgrades. Anyone else feel the same?
I almost always have an armory either on my expo or on a mini somewhere. I play a lot of Jerome where the leader is vital so I need it. But If I’m quick teching to pump hogs or air (last patch) I would invest in logistics. Aside from hero upgrades I don’t use it during T1. It’s a matter of playstyle imo. Some people like getting logistics and reinforcements earlier to get a bigger low tech army, while other prefer going to t3 to get Hausa or wingman first. Just a matter of preference. I’d always have one handy just in case tho
It’s risk is that it cost precious supplies and power that you don’t have a lot of in the early game. But the reward is if you can manage to budget it in to your comp you get a really good hero unit and some useful upgrades. I rush with a hero so I always have it as my fourth building I build.
I’m a Hero guy and if your not gonna build Hero, don’t go Armory. Upgrades like Reinforcements, Logistics or Fortify Base upgrades aren’t very useful at T1 and you would be way better of using that power to go to T2 instead of getting those upgrades.
Heroes I will always build with is Atriox, Pavium, Decimus, Jerome, Forge and Arbiter. And maybe Colony.
I will usually only build an armory on an expo after I have a stable army composition and economy. Unless you are opening hero, I don’t think its worth it in T1.

I get it on a mini if I’m going hero at T1, but besides that it definitely goes on an expo.
I mostly have an Army at T2 unless I’m using a hero like Voridus, Colony, Jerome, or Forge.
Unless i’m upgrading base health when against Kinsano because of Inferno or wish to rush hero, Armoury is useless until late game.
