Riptide is not just my least favorite map in Halo 5.
It is my least favorite map of all time. Even Halo 2’s Elongation is not as terrible as Riptide.
Seriously, I was so hyped for this map, and it turned out to be awful. And I really like Fathom.
I’m glad they’re done with remixes, at least for the next update. I like Overgrowth, but Riptide is all kinds of wrong.
Care to elaborate on why it’s your least favorite map of all time?
Maybe things like weapon placement, corridors/pathways, lack of location references, and overall you don’t know where you are or where your best sightlines will be to control a position.
Obviously if you only play a map a few times, you won’t like it very much. Some of the worst maps in Halo history were maps in Halo:CE but were played a ton and became nastalgic (yes I’m talking about Hang 'em High, Damnation, and few others).

I have probably only won two or three games out of my 12+ games on that map.
Oh c’mon… you shouldn’t hate a map just because you’ve not done well on it so far! Though I will agree Riptide is certainly not my favorite either.
If it helps, from my experience, I’d say getting the high ground on the side of the map opposite where the Fuel Rod spawns is your best bet for Slayer or Strongholds. The DMR is very helpful, Hydra launcher too or Storm Rifle up close and can all be found in the same area over there. Use cover if you get in trouble and know that you can easily hop onto the bridge and into that room where the DMR spawns from the sand area below it on the right side closest to that room’s entrance. Makes traversing the map and getting around much, much easier!
It is a little too closed off for me, but there are plenty of more open arena maps, so maybe I am just being picky
There are far worse maps: Overgrowth, Backwash, most Reach launch maps, et cetera, though that’s just my opinion.

I despised Riptide until I started to get a better understanding of how the game flows on it. It was counterintuitive for me. Generally I prefer to play from the higher ground. However, that isn’t always the case on this map. Try using the lower corridors on the map more often and see if that helps you enjoy the map more.
I’ll get some hate for this.
At least it isn’t Lockout.
I don’t know what it’s like 'cause I’ve never been there!

Well your first mistake is thinking Elongation is bad!
The main gripe I have about it is 343 weighted it so heavily because it’s a new map. I feel like I play it 50% of the time. That alone makes me get tired of it. Oh the joys of not being able to vote for what I want to play.

B-b-but, Elongation is awful…
Longest was a decent map, especially for modded zombies on PC, but Elongation…
The BR ambushes from above…
So horrible.
Why does this map get so much hate?!
I don’t think Riptide is the best map for anything other than FFA. The spawns points are all screwed up. I see it as Halo 5’s version of “Cold Storage.”
Players are even afraid to move around because they’re afraid of being shot from behind. I played a match in SWAT yesterday against a team that just camped in the blue base throughout the entire match…
I like Riptide. Not Overgrowth, not much at all. I feel like its too… compartmentalized? Either way, I feel the inverse of the OP on this one.

How dare you talk about Hang 'em High like that! I love that map
I love overgrowth to the days end, but I honestly don’t have much issue with riptide either. I hate being in the area by suppressor spawn, because you’re either exposed up high, and in a bad spot down low.
I thought the BR corner next to the fuel rod was terribly awkward until i discovered the man cannon. Gives the map perfect FFA flow imho
also Riptide / Fathom is the prettiest pair of maps i’ve seen in a halo game
