No Ragnarok no fun. Most of BTB maps in Halo 4 are really bad maps. Only Ragnarok (not an original H4 map) was fun. Now the three options are: Settler, Settler Pro and Meltdown Pro
Errr… I think EVERYBODY will agree when I say we don’t want the same map in two options, and we don’t want two Pro options.
343, listen:
1 Slayer Pro
2 BTInfinity Slayer
3 different maps
And please don’t take away the only good map.
PD. I’m sorry if I’m being rude but I’m very very disgusted with X-ONE. I’m about to break my 360 like that guy on youtube…
I completely sympathize with you and I seriously doubt i will buy H5 (I have Halo CE, H2, H3, H3 ODST and Reach up on my Game shelf).
For Multiplayer Halo, I have gone back to Halo Reach and do not regret it.
Primary reasons for abandoning H4 multiplayer and going to Reach are:
Has user selectable connection filters so that I can only have players with good connections and player of similar skill levels. 70% of my H4 WarGames have 0.5 to 5 seconds of lag. In the approximately 24 Reach Games I played since June 2nd , I had 30 seconds of “H4 Normal lag” game play - the rest have been smooth and I can hit what I aim for and do damage.
In Reach when I select BTB as a choice, I get BTB as a choice - not some other game type like Slayer Pro in H4.
I have multiple choices (up to 16) in what maps I Vote for and the ability to have it select another set of Maps - not just H4’s “3 maps - take it or Quit”. Reach also randomize the maps available - where as H4 it apparently has to be reset each week to some new sub set of maps.
The host selection in Reach is based on Best Connection for the those players and it selects players with similar geographical locations. In H4, they perpetually pick the newest players as host because they have no “host History” - rather than who has the best connection in that game. And h4 tosses players from all over the globe into a single game - it’s just plain stupid.
My DLC content in Reach is always AVAILABLE to select as a separate Map choice. In H4, you have no idea if the DLC content I BOUGHT is available that week or not. People won’t buy DLC’s if you can’t play it - that’s marketing 101.
Lag and poor host selection for Multi Player has NEVER been addressed by 343 - it’s one of the biggest complaints that you can find in these lists. The fact that in 8 months 343 has totally ignored this as as an issue is why the number of daily players has dropped so rapidly:
Lastly, with H5 coming out in 2014 and 343 abandoning the Xbox 360, it’s pretty clear that H4 will never have the source code updated, which would be needed for the Host and User Options to be fixed. My reasoning on this is because they moved the weapon and map tuning outside of H4 code base - which was done so that they can tweak some stuff without touching the application code. So no more internal changes or fixes for the code base - they can tweak weapons every couple of weeks to keep the hand full of “Pro” players satisfied until H5 is out the door.
Honestly, my biggest problem with BTB is that I’m constantly being thrown into a game with my team already losing by twenty or more kills, and then I see majority of the enemy team have much higher spartan ratings than my team.
But yeah, the whole slayer pro thing and map selection is a big problem too. Why not just remove slayer pro from Infinty Slayer game types and make their own playlists?
Not to mention the lack of objective gameplay and vehicle dominance. In Halo 3 and Reach you could choose to have small skirmishes or get in a vehicle with some buddies and dominate. In halo 4 its basically who has the better connection and rifle. Also vehicle gameplay is disgustingly unbalanced where any vehicle will basically die after a couple grenades or a rocket or two and enemies can spawn with plasma pistols. Halo 4 doesn’t feel like a team oriented game and the lack of vehicles is very upsetting.

Pretty sure it would be better with the below option since many of us have been asking for Objectives to be added
1 Slayer Pro
2 Infinity Slayer
3 Big Team Objectives
The map selection should be the least of our worries. I don’t want to play on ANY map with the F’ed up weapon and vehicle spawns.
After that is fixed THEN I will complain about the map selection (which is piss poor - I hate settler; that and vortex is ALL I play with the occasional relief of complex).
I won’t even TOUCH BTB since the update. It’s that horrible.
BTB is ruined. That, for once, is not an overexaggeration.

Totally agree, I spend more time in the lobby, then I spend playing. Bad maps and vehicle chaos seems to be the result of the tu. Now map selection seems to come down to which map you hate the least, and what a great range to choose from. ( sarcasm )
Actually you summed it up there, Quite often its a case of voting for what you hate least.
Very little in the way of rotation of maps, just make all maps have an equal chance of being picked. 3 different maps please in the choices.
> BTB died the moment they took objective out of it.
Sad but true. And while slayer has always been more popular in BTB, you did still get to play objective games quite a lot in H2, H3 and Reach. It kept the whole experience fresh and varied.
