So it looks like BtB is moving social only after all. This is very sad news for all 5+ teams out there like ours. I understand 343 wants to franchise halo as competitive 4 player arena, but this I have to say was a bad call. There was no experimenting running dual playlists (ranked and social), but instead they just took away the sole reason why some of the bigger teams even purchased the game in the first place. I know I’m not the only one who turned to halo 5 to experience 5-8 player ranked mm. Expecially now that SWBF and bops 3 have recently launched, going into battle with them on christmas sales is just plain suicide. You had something they didn’t and now you don’t.
To make an actual point, this was pretty much the only playlist that was good for teams where ranks and skillrange vary from silver to onyx. Going 4v4 with a mixed-rank-group like that will never go well as you won’t match a single team of equal skillbase. You can’t fix this even by tweaking the matching system, the regional player base,it seems, is just not big enough for it. Big team battle was a lot more forgiving when it came to opponent vs own skillrange which pretty much makes it the only choice for teams with large variety of skill and ranks. And to make another point, BtB is now going to be godlike slaughter for the better half of the player base until (or if) they’ve had enough, just like it is in warzone and like it was in the previous social playlists.
I can imagine running both playlists simultaneously draining the player base from one another, but this is why the current ranking system was created in the first place isn’t it, to provide the social players opponents of equal skillrange and thus rendering social playlists useless for good. I’ts like 343 is admitting the ranking system is not working, but silently. Keep in mind that community feedback is always presented by a small minority and it will never tell you what the majority opinion is. If we keep quiet it’s a good sign and it means don’t change anything, just add more, tweak and service. This is something to keep in mind after seeing what happened to blizzard with wow subs (-50% in a window of few years) when they sarted to pay attention on casual players and “community feedback”. This is going to backfire and one of these “community updates” is going to start a chain reaction.
I mean you don’t go and replace a jet engine with a new one without testing it first. Obviously some people are happy as long as it flys, but some poeple will certainly not be boarding that flight anymore.
rip halo 5 big team and rip mixed rank mm, rip all hope

Not with the current rankd and matching system, it’s why it was applied in the first place to make social playlists useless. Are you saying that this forum is the majority?

They (343) would not make a change like this, if they did not receive an abundant amount of feedback in regards to changing BTB to unranked. When it first released as ranked, people voiced their opinion about making this playlist unranked because people enjoy kicking back and messing around in BTB.

How do you know then? Tho there has certainly not been a poll or any data that indicates for or against it. My point was and it’s obvious that either the matching system doesn’t work and 343 knows it (and does nothing surprise surprise) or the change was made based on “community feedback”. Both are bad, unless this is actually the way to test if social is more popular indeed. And this is how the loop closes once again, they try to change something without knowing what will happen and it backfires and the whole community suffers. This is not halo 5 beta

I know godlike slaughter and punishing noobs mercilessly is fun for you, but it’s not fun for the worse half of the player base xD

When it comes to 4v4 or 2v2 halo is still the -Yoink-, but for social gaming +4 players there are far better options than halo 5. If you’re not a halo fanatic you know this…
Actually they might be experimenting with it right now. They just swapped it to unranked but that doesn’t mean it will never return to being ranked. I personally don’t care if it’s ranked or unranked, I just want my REQ points.
