Halo 5 forces you to finish every single game. I find this ridiculous and have never played a game that punishes players so severely for quitting. I play 20 games and quit one because others on my team have already quit. The system must not catch it right away because I played one more game before getting the “Connection Lost” message after finishing it. Then I get banned for 9 hours? How can you justify this? Players should not be forced to continue playing matches especially when all games are matched with random players. I find this totally unacceptable as I purchased this game and pay for my account.
Sorry bud. Don’t quit.
I fully understand the purpose of the ban. But 9 hours? If it was one or two I wouldn’t complain or if I got banned from one playlist but every playlist?
There is a sticky post about the banhammer and why there is a delay at the top of the forum
15 quits in the last 2 weeks, the banhammer remembers. XBL terms of service, you should read it.

Yes, but everyone else who doesn’t quit out of their matches purchased the game, too. At the moment, I have managed to play 988 matches without quitting. It really isn’t that difficult.
The bottom line is that you have learned a rather difficult lesson: quitting in the middle of an online match ruins the experience for the other players, so don’t quit and you won’t have any issues with “ridiculous quitting bans” in the future.
2 of your last 9 games you quit. Don’t pity you.
Are you sure it was 9 hours? I’ve been quitting a lot recently and my max ban was 45 mins. Are you sure you’re not mistaking the time for hours:mins instead of mins:sec? When I was first banned it said like 15:34 and I thought it was 15 hours when it was really 15 mins.
But I agree the quit ban is ridiculous.

Then why is there the option to quit?

Because taking that decision away would be ridiculous. Quit as much as you like but deal with the consequences (ban), that easy.

You are an inspiration sir. I am at 576 without quitting. I hope to get to your level some day

Yeah, finish your work or get fired. That is the way of life and gaming. Learn from it.
Halo 5 enforces their banhammer way too much as an effort to discourage cheating. However, as the OP said, the bans are ridiculous and I can agree that they need to be toned down significantly.
There are two ways to help with the effects of quitters and possibly reduce quitting in general:
- Add a lot of REQ point rewards for staying in multiple matches ie RP jackpot. The more often you stay, the higher the chances of getting high jackpots - Add a “join in progress” system for every single playlist. Joining a session in progress will not count as a loss on your end, but if you remain in the lobby and lose, you will receive a lot of REQ points for sticking to the match.Overall, the banhammer strikes might be satisfying to some, but they are way too heavily enforced. Regardless of how punishing the banhammers can be, people will still quit. Now I’m not saying my ideas will prove fruitful in reducing quitters, but at least there will be less complaints and more praise for how many bonus REQs people are earning.
As I mentioned in my earlier forum post, the solution to quitting shouldn’t be harsh punishments. The solution should be quickly replacing those lost teammates in order to re-establish a fair game without lopsided teams. That’s how I feel about it.

Incorrect, now stop quitting.
We have a sticky thread at the top of this section for ban FAQ.
