There’s a lot of disheartening word going around that a lot of people, including that some of the biggest name streamers that drive a lot of the hype for games (especially ones trying to make it big in esports), all have to say the same thing in common
Pros
-Absolutely beautiful game and graphics, im so glad they fixed this
The armor customization is definitely there, especially with the option to select between 3 different types of Spartans
The game runs very smoothly (in my experience on the Series X)
The music and soundtracks, especially in multiplayer, was one of the best touches I have ever seen happen with this game
CONS
Waaaaay Too long to level up in battle pass
Slow TTK stacked with Long Respawn times
No assassinations (not a deal breaker but players being able to customize and express themselves is very important to a AAA title to succeed)
No battle royale in 2021-2022
I understand that this isn’t COD/ Apex/ Fortnite. I’ve played every single halo rigorously ever since launch, I want to see it succeed. If Halo wants to stay in the big leagues, it needs to evolve with the times.
The pace and content of multiplayer in Halo right now is outdated. Just like everyone else, I’m having fun playing Halo, but the streamers are saying it right; “It’s just same Old Halo”. The pace for customization & PvP as a whole, is far too slow for a AAA game in 2021-2022.
I’m afraid the hype is going to die too fast if something isn’t done soon.
We don’t need a BR until Forge releases and we can make it ourselves.
TTK feels old school and I enjoy it.
Assassinations are coming, I’m also upset they didn’t make it for launch.
Like honestly the only MAJOR issue with this game for myself is the lack of a decent progression system.
Have you ever played another Halo? I don’t understand why this is asked when Halo has its TTK and doesn’t need to have a low TTK.
Halo doesn’t need a BR, no one in the Halo community wants a BR, you have dozens of BRs on the market, pick the one you like best and the one with the least TTK and go to that one. This game is not for you .
So what I am hearing with your Cons is that you wish this was a different game?
As for assassinations, they did say it was a conscious choice, as it does also put the player in a vulnerable, easy to kill position.
Everyone knows the BP sucks.
Slow TTK? What were you expecting in a Halo game? I think it feels great. Not too slow at all.
Your battle royale comment sounds more like someone who got their hopes too high. They never once said battle royale would be in this game and in 2021-2022 your game is not required to have it. Just wait for Forge and play it there.
I hadn’t heard about assassinations coming later, that’s good news at least
TTK definitely is classic halo, I personally also don’t mind it I can play perfectly fine with it.— as for newer players or people trying to get into the game and drive the hype up though… that’s a different story. People these days need a game where it’s easier to get a kill, and have less of a skill barrier to get over.
I have friends who can’t get into the game because the TTK is too long. They just keep getting bodied by veteran players and it kills the fun for them.
You’re right, I agree no one in the HALO community wants a BR because the HALO community is full of Halo vets that are stuck in 2001-2010.
I personally am a more progressive Halo fan, I want to see the game evolve better with the times and actually succeed, which we haven’t seen happen in a decade.
Microsoft is promoting the mess out of this game. They’re promoting it to the largest streamers. To dozens of companies to promote it. They clearly want this game to reach a broader audience.
My post was about catering to the larger and broader audience, not the same fans that have been fine with the " Same old Halo". While having the small community of fans that have actually stuck around all this time is important, we are NOT who makes them money and makes the game successful.
In order not to like veteran Halo players, you use the same hackneyed arguments that Halo has not evolved at all in the last decade when literally the problem of that veteran community is that Halo has always evolved towards the fashionable trend of the moment and therefore it has gone badly.
Take the case of Halo 4 with its infumable multiplayer designed to be the same as CoD, or see the case of HALO 5 with its sick approach to esports and all the paraphernalia behind it.
Your only argument for having to put a BR mode and prioritize it is “because it is fashionable and it makes money”, without understanding why Halo is Halo and what is its objective. You’re making the same mistakes that have been made in the last bloody years.
Halo Infinite doesn’t need to prioritize a BR mode, it needs to find its own way and be fun being Halo first and foremost, and then it will be seen if a BR mode is introduced alongside other game modes. But saying this game is going to be obsolete only reminds me of a certain insignificant streamer who released something similar recently.
You just proved the perfect point, We’ve already had a multiplayer-designed Halo! And it was GOD AWFUL! Halo 4 was 343’s attempt at being more evolved, and it failed because it was a horrible idea. To think that there are people wishing for this to return is astounding to me.
Thats part of the challenge, friend. Getting bodied by Vets in order to learn the sandbox. With the focus on Plasma and Kinetic properties it makes the game something to learn, master and play. I will say it again, this game is -21 days old. give it time.
I honestly believe that this game would thrive as a BR. It has all the essential tools for it. I’m a Halo vet and I can see that a BR would absolutely put this game on the map.
If 343 were to develop a BR and have it come out in a year’s time, it would do wonders to this games popularity.
Because of the ultra-competitive approach that was given to Halo 5, a part of me today wishes that the global statistics of the social games be rethought and changed. The damage done to the fun part of Halo’s multiplayer is still palpable to this day.
You make some good points - but I have to disagree with your Cons 2-4.
Agree 100% - it is absurd.
Slow TTK is the hallmark of Halo - it is a huge differentiator and it wouldn’t be Halo without it. I would argue it is too SHORT in some instances (though it could be my crappy internet).
This is a bummer but the data showed it wasn’t used enough. They have said they won’t be in “at launch” so it sounds like if there is enough interest we will get it.
Completely disagree with this one. BR is so 2018 - an overused and boring as hell mode that gamers can find in any of your standard vanilla BR games. Not having it is another differentiator. I will play this game specifically to AVOID BR and I’m not the only one. No doubt this will show up in custom game modes regardless so it isn’t like you won’t be able to find the experience.
Halo does not play like COD or any other FPS, if you want that type of TTK
go play those games.
Now, 343i has already addressed most of your CONS, want more info
go check the tech preview outcome, posted 8 days ago. Meaning you
are a bit too late. Some may take time to be implemented but they are
working on it.
BR = Battle Rifle in Halo. A battle royal mode may be added later next year,
but before that we want forge & co-op campaign, so you better sit down and
wait, if you want a battle royal in Halo.
People seem to forget that even Halo 3 TTK’s were faster than Infinite’s. As were the spawns. Every game from CE to Reach had a 3 second respawn timer, 10 seconds in unacceptable.
We’ve gotten confirmation that assassinations are coming back at some point post-launch.
As for no Battle Royale, that’s a good thing imo, BR’s are outdated and oversaturating the industry. If you want a BR that badly, you can wait till Forge launches and make one yourself.
