I like the gametype, it has lots of potential and looks fun. Just a couple of comments about things I’ve noticed in custom games that I feel are less than ideal.
First, if the ball carrier drives a mongoose into an endzone, it will not trigger a score. I feel like since there are options for the ball carrier to be able to use vehicles, being in a car shouldn’t prevent scoring by default. If people don’t want vehicles in their gametype, they won’t put them on the map or will put the goals someplace vehicles can’t reach.
Second, if I have a hoop set onto an object, like a golf ball. If I move my golf ball hoop to where the ricochet ball spawns, it will not trigger a score. However, it will trigger a score at least 30 seconds later if I just pick up the ball then drop it and roll the hoop over. But I think it would be better to have the ball “live” right off the start, which could let people build soccer-like gametypes.
Otherwise it looks great, there are lots of interesting options in forging and gametype settings; excited to see what clever/creative people will be able to make with this.
Oh, third and less important; it’d be nice if more than just red/blue teams were enabled for custom games.
Another thing I have noticed is that its not a locked/permanent file, like the other game types they implemented in the game are, and can accidentally be deleted, which I tend to do sometimes, and since I have very limited access to Xbox Live, this is really a bummer for me.
I have nothing against Ricochet, but out of the five or six games I have played it today, all of them have been losses, since every time my team thinks that the game type is like Slayer.
There even was some guy complaining about he’s kill points not counting…
The only annoying thing for me is not being able to use zones as scenery in Ricochet without making them useable goals. If anyone knows a way to do this, please let me know. One thing I really like is how you can make the ball a hot potato!
