Reward for Objective

With the commendation system in Reach we get rewarded for head shots, weapon kills, vehicle kills, multi-kills and the like, but it’s all based on kills. I’d like to see the Commendation system return in some fashion but with some love for objective. Track our bomb/flag plants and stops, time in hills and with oddball.

This might help out Grifball especially, which seems to be about kills rather then scores. If people get rewarded for scoring (and ending the round) rather than spawn-camping for kills, people might actually play the game the way you’re supposed to.

Absolutely! Love this idea. I’d love to see objective gametypes get some love.

This is exactly what needs to be done to make Objective enjoyable… Make K/D ratio only count and show up through slayer gametypes. You wouldn’t get the K/D whores in objective. Instead of K/D have captures for and against and whatnot. Some people care tooo much about K/D and will not go for things such as flags and bombs. XP would still be awarded for kills but plants and caps and all that other fun stuff would be worth more. Say like 5 xp for a kill… And like 10 for a flag steal and like 25 for a cap.

In addition to that, more credits should be earned based on how fast can win (unlike in Reach, where you get more credits if the game runs it’s full length), to help discourage objective holding.

I should never have entered this thread. I am now going to be very disappointed if these changes aren’t implemented. They seem like no-brainers to me.

They really are… The main thing that 343 can do to make objective fun again is make people not care about k/d. I remember in the Halo 2 days people didn’t care because they weren’t stats that were right their for everyone to view. Maybe only have K/D viewable by only yourself? Either way as long as K/D mongers are out their objective will never be fun. I mean Halo 2 objective was also a ton better because of the awesome maps like Terminal, Relic, Containment etc… 1 Flag CTF on Relic where people were actually trying to go for the objectives and others trying to protect it… Priceless.

i liked halo 3’s exp system because if you lost you got nothing so (most of the time) people played the objective, with reaches credit system theres so many people who just farm kills for the whole game

Why not just reward people for actually winning the game?

First of all, no betrayals for flag/bomb and secondly, there is much more to objective than having the willingness to rush it over and over again.
