343 did an awesome job to improve Halo 4 and I highly suggest all of you to go and play Halo 4 again because 343 is still supporting it even with the low population! They do care so atleast give Halo 4 a second chance and try it again! Invite some friends to play it again and revive Halo 4!

I’m sure people have given the game a second chance. And third chances. And fourth. And fifth. It is admirable that they are supporting the game, but a lot of what they are doing seems a little too late to make a difference. I at least hope they learned lessons for the next game.

> I at least hope they learned lessons for the next game.

Me, you and 8 mil other people… Game is sold in 8.7 mil copies, and don’t have even a 30 k players… In that numbers halo 4 is phenomenon… BIG problem in Halo 4 are maps… Haven is small map that is played all time, ragnarok is big map that is played all time… There is no good maps, 343 MUST give some god maps for free… DLC maps are bad too(did not play last DLC, so don’t now how are map in it…)…

While the game has come on in leaps and bounds, it’s a bit late for this.

Like me many have the mentality that Halo 5 will revive Halo to it’s former competitive glory. Until then I’ll watch AGL/UMG and play Halo 4 casually.

> I’m sure people have given the game a second chance. And third chances. And fourth. And fifth. It is admirable that they are supporting the game, but a lot of what they are doing seems a little too late to make a difference. I at least hope they learned lessons for the next game.

To be honest, I think there are many reasons why H4 has the population it has now outside the game itself. Xbox One coming out soon, Xbox 360’s Library of games (even CoD suffers from this), Bungie left, and H4 was 343i’s first game they’ve ever made (not counting anniversary). And 343i was a small group working on Halo 4. Imagine what they can do with Halo 5.

It hasn’t even been a year! Too late would be more like 2. Yes, the game is not perfect, but perfection cannot come from imperfect people and nobody is perfect.

Just my opinion.

I’ve given this game so many chances but it continues to disappoint me.

I have given 343 about 1400 war games, countless lagged SPos + Campaign co-op to fix the lag issues and nothing has been done. So I gave up on June 6 and switched back to Reach.

A real world example of the main H4 issue is summarized here:

https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postsm2567780_Is-Halo-4-s-Netcode-Bogging-Down.aspx#post2567780

Reach (and other multiplayer titles) simply do not lag like H4 does. If i play 20 games of BTB in Reach, 1 game will lag by 0.5+ seconds. If I play 20 games in H4 (without throwing my controller through wall in frustration) 14 of those games will have 0.5+ seconds of lag. The same applies to Reach FireFight versus H4 SPos too. Consistent lag makes the game ZERO fun to play.

So unless 343 changes the game set up servers so that they pick the person with the best connection as host - instead of the “Host History” crap, I won’t ever play H4 again. And this doesn’t require changing the xbox game - just how it picks the host in each match.

Not all they have done post-launch was good.

Game of the year edition, new armour mods, certain playlists.

What certain playlist?

Majestic DLC will be required next week for Infinity Slayer as an experiment. I dont own the Majestic DLC but I know they are good maps and they are designed in the classic Halo style

That map pack is from February 25, 2013, and now is going to be required… Fore those that have limited edition like me it is good news. But loot people will play other playlists…

The game’s alright I’m just to busy with school to play at the moment

Need to revive Halo in general. I just streamed over an hour of me trying to find games in Halo 4, Halo 3 and Halo Reach. One game I did get into in Halo 4 Flood lagged so bad I had to leave.

I now only play Halo Reach because of the Lag in H4. 70% of my H4 BTB games are lagged by 0.5+ seconds, where as 5% of my Halo Reach games have that much lag.

I primarily play BTB in Halo Reach and over the past week have played 40+ BTB games. The longest I waited in the lobby was maybe 4 minutes before a game started - and that is with the “Good Connection” option selected. In Reach BTB, usually there are 500 to 1,500 players shown as playing it too when I play it.

So I’m not sure why you would get such long delays before a Reach game start, unless you turning on all the connection options, are selecting a game type very few people play or it’s the time of day your playing?

HTH…

Dominion, multi team, rumble pit too crowded, capture the flag having its own playlist and other objectives left out, some would say merging legendary slayer with infinity slayer.

It reminds me, what was going on at 343i that they said there was going to be a classic playlist, or something similar, at launch but there wasn’t.

Reach’s netcode seems to be the best, halo 3 was worse them reach. Halo 4 is not performing too well a lot of times.

Probably the same thing going through their head when they said we wouldn’t be disappointed by the lack of elites, and when they said “Promethean vision won’t let you see across the entire map.”

Funny how things turn out

You do realize that the inhabitants of waypoint only make-up a tiny, tiny portion of 4’s total pop. right? We couldn’t revive halo 4 if we wanted to. First impressions are important and while it has greatly improved, halo 4 made a horrible first impression.

Horrible made matchmaking, per to per connection, that lag all time… They need connection first to fix, from p2p to Client Servers… And that is not possible?

Most of the major problems which have turned people away are essentially unfix-able in this game.

  • They can’t reverse the decision to include sprint and descope, due to the impact that those decisions had on things like maps.
-They can’t suddenly take Personal Ordnance out of the game, as the remaining 30k players are probably the people that like those things.
They also can’t suddenly take AA’s out of loadouts and turn them into map pickups.
  • They can’t suddenly scrap the less-than-desirable map design and give us a load of decent, memorable maps.
  • They don’t have that memory-erasing device from MIB, which means they can’t erase the Spartan in a wheelchair incident.
  • They can’t hop in a time machine, go back to the development of Spartan Ops, and tell themselves not to copy and paste the environments. They can’t give themselves the extra time and resources to make that possible either.

They have done things to improve the game since launch, but they are mostly minor in comparison to the biggest issues that Halo 4 has.

However, Halo 5 is a fresh start and ALL of these things can be fixed for the future of Halo. Even the Spartan in a wheelchair can be forgotten if Halo 5 does not take the same, terrible approach to game design.
