It would be nice if 343 would either select some other company to host a master server or dedicate a small portion of existing servers to make H2V live and well again.
Halo 2 Vista was a dead game. When I last played it, many years ago, its player count averaged around 25 players, occasionally reaching 75 players on a good day. Compared to Halo PC/Custom Edition, which is 4 years older and with a playerbase of around 2000 plus, Halo 2 Vista was basically lifeless.
It would make no financial sense to do so and it is extremely unlikely the game would ever improve on those numbers, even if someone else hosted the master server. H2V had a huge amount of problems which drove PC players away, unlike Halo PC/CE, which was a good PC game in its own right.

I remember there being way more than 25 players on one server back around 2009-2010. Like a good portion of servers were full or at least had players playing.
Everyone would be playing on custom maps though and the types of maps people would make were amazing.
It would probably improve those numbers considering the fact that everyone in project cartographer would go back to the old server browser if the master server
was revived.

True but what I meant is that you could still play Halo 2 Vista, via LAN, with a bunch of friends
Just play Halo 2 Project Cartographer. Many people play it and its fun.

I do, I was talking about for achievements sake and make the live option and quick match actually work.

I still have my copy of Halo 2 vista. Currently trying to unlock all the achievements for the game before I decide to download the Project Cartographer mod that revived its multiplayer.
I would revive it if I had a copy of it, I don’t even know where to get one now

Online brand new if you’re lucky.
Otherwise, 2nd hand online only and pray that the CD key hasn’t been used 5 times otherwise you’ll still be S.O.L.
H2V can only be bought physically and each CD key can only be used 5 times before it becomes useless.
Play using project cartographer. I’m serious, it’s very alive.

I can load the game up right now and find tons of user-hosted servers without issue, so I don’t think it needs any official support as it seems to be doing great.
Playing, via LAN, is still a really amazing experience. I’m telling you. You plus a bunch of your friends playing would be a blast
If your stuck getting the multiplayer achievements you still can on vista, you can get every achievement still for halo 2 on vista actually. Check my gamerscore for confirmation that I myself got all the halo 2 for vista achievements just last year. I have the step by step guide below that I followed and I am not computer savvy at all so its easy to follow his directions XD. If you need any help just send me a message. always willing to help a fellow achievement hunter! lol

Halo 2 for vista la dead i playing on 2010 and there arent’any player on matchmaking
