So I was over seeing some discussions about how the Halo community could draw more people to the Halo franchise if everything was ported between pc and console. However there were people worried about the competitive seen cause it was always known in the esports being on console. A solution to that would be to let the regular playlist support mouse and keyboard and the use of Xbox controllers for those who wanna play with controllers. And the tournament approved playlist require a Xbox controller. What is other peoples opinions on this idea and why?
Competitive Halo is a lot more than just tournament play. I’m a console guy and if I thought for one minute that I was playing a match of team slayer (or really any playlist for that matter) against a keyboard and mouse (and you really can kinda tell) then I’d quit the match. Instantly. No question, no debate. Quit. If you can convince me that the advantage they have isn’t really that huge then I’m all ears.
So, just because Halo would be on another platform everyone is going to come back to the game? If Halo 5 was on pc the only thing that would change is a bunch of new players and players who don’t own consoles anymore.
I’m fine with Halo going to PC, but I would rather not have cross play. If people want to play Halo on PC, more power to them, but I don’t want to have to play against PC players all the time. Since the matchmaking update, I have to put on my try hard pants every match as it is. I don’t need to be at a disadvantage just because I am playing on a different system

Since you asked, I’ll try and post why it’s not as bad as it seems. However, I’m not in favor of cross-play and I’d probably end up quitting as well.
So, in my mind, Halo is designed for controllers with all the aim assist and so on. In a game like Gears, which has larger hitboxes and no aim assist, there’s no question that a PC player will defeat a console player of comparable skill. But in Halo, the aim assist sort of makes up for the disparity between a console and PC player. The only advantage I see a PC player having is the ability to do 180’s real fast. While that doesn’t happen all the time, it can be frustrating to see someone turn around faster than you expected and potentially ruining a strategy you planned.
Funny thing is that Gears 4 has cross-play for social playlists with the option to turn it off for ranked ones. Meanwhile, and this is not a complaint, Halo has never had the option for cross-play.
Yea consol gaming is much better, but who wants to sit at a desk top anymore when you can sit on your couch! Those good old days come to mind thinking about Counter Strike on my old desktop!
Yeah definitely dont want cross play if that happens lmao, imagine vs’ing a sweaty pc team while you and your buddies are on console -_-

Totally agree. But I use my Xbox 360 controller with my PC connected to my TV, so it’s really the same as the console experience in that regard. But I wish the PC games ran on older versions of Windows or better yet Linux, because I really don’t like Windows 10.
Gears has an option to let you opt out of matching people on PC. So that could be an option for those worried about matching PC players.
They could do what Fortnite does and allow cross platform but ask players if they would like to play with people on a different platform.
Enable keyboard and mouse support, add a toggle for cross-play. Problem solved.

Personally, I think this would make it even worse. Instead of running into sweaties with a major advantage if I for some reason wanted to do cross-play, I’ll run into sweaties with a major advantage on my home console that I can’t escape from unless I want to get banned for quitting. “Get a keyboard and mouse and join them” you say? Well first since I’ve only used a controller I’d have to learn how to use a mouse and keyboard in a gaming sense, major disadvantage. I get motion sickness easily, so I can’t tolerate very high sensitivities even on a controller, let alone when the keyboard allows people to ratchet it up even further, again, major disadvantage. And I like the controller so maybe I just don’t want to spend the money for a keyboard and mouse in the first place.
So don’t do cross-play.

That’s not what I exactly ment. What I was trying to say is have cross play for certain playlists but your required to have an xbox controller plugged in to play on the playlist.
