Assuming Firefight returns, there should be a game mode where you play as Elites fighting the UNSC. There’d be AI marines, ODST, Spartans etc. to fight. They could be grouped into sniper teams, infantry, or whatever. It’s not a big change, but I think it adds a nice change of pace having to deal with Warthogs, Scorpions, and Hornets instead of Ghosts, Wraiths, and Banshees.
NOTE: The marines wouldn’t be dumb like they are in Campaign.
so it’d be like Beast mode from Gears. Anyways it wouldn’t work as good as Beast mode because Elites have almost identical physics to Spartans. But hey they could make it an extra mode like this called; reverse, although it isn’t enough to be a separate mode
I know in Reach there was firefight versus, but it never got that popular.
I like the sound of your idea. If it resembles Gears of War’s Beast mode, that would be sweet. I’ve always wanted to play as a hunter.

Grab a Fuel Rod Canon, lower your movement speed, and put on a few over-shields… there you go, a Hunter.
if Marine AI is anything like past halos, this “reversed Firefight” mode will be VERY boring and not challenging at all.

It doesn’t fill the void!
D:
I wouldn’t want this to happen since the standard UNSC troops are too easy and weak to kill and very plain generic enemies, even if they would throw Spartans at you I would find this a unappealing game type.
Actually, a good comparison is the gamemode Chaos Unleashed from Space Marine. Link, This is pretty much what your suggesting, being able to play as the enemy race and fighting the good guy race.
Plus their are many other enemies that we could fight (flood, loyalists/storm, or maybe even forerunner type enemies.)

Agreed the only Halo game were the marines could beat the covies is CE and if they won which was about a 1 to 5 odds it would be an awkward victory like. WTF how did all of you survive did you all go god mode or 1 guy with a red bar just a single AR bullet away from death.
But as i said in a thread i put up before we will need more human AI diversity in order for something like this to work because normal marines are…crap. They only live because of you and you can test this with every Halo game just sit back and let them fight it out. I give them 5 minutes… and the goose is cooked. Even in Halo 4 on Shutdown you can right SIV’s and the only threat they are is using railguns. Other than that they are mini elites. But the problem is there weapons so if human firefight would have to work it would have to be humans using different weapons.
Army,Mariners, ODST and Spartan IV’s would fit but weapon diversity would be the major game changer.

That’s why it needs to be its own dedicated game mode where the enemy AI is actually good.

It’s like this due to the fact that if they were “smarter” they could go beast mode on the Covenant and the player could stand back watch.
If something like this were to ever come, it would have AI improvement to pose a challenge.
As long as the Marine and spartan A.I aren’t dum then yes I can see this working.
