I just gotta say that the Halo Wars 2 reveal trailer was done very very well. It brings back the old memories of Halo with that beautiful art style. On top of that, it again shows the struggle against a foe armed to the teeth, like how Bungie’s Halo titles did it. This trailer was the best one since the Deliver Hope trailer which was released with Reach’s marketing campaign.

I agree. Halo 5 wasn’t the best for me out of the Halo series, but it’s Halo nonetheless and to see Halo Wars 2 doing things right (going in the right direction) makes me happy that I’ve remained a Halo fan ever since I picked up the game so long ago. HW2 looks like a return to the storytelling that was meant for Halo 5, and the art style looks fantastic, a merging of 343i’s and Bungie’s style to become the best of both worlds. I look forward to picking up my copy of Halo Wars 2 on the day of release.

I watched it last night, and it actually made me sad for the franchise. I really wished the premise for Halo Wars 2 had been the premise for Halo 4 and the continuation of the franchise.
A splinter Covenant group lead by a real Warlord, that was a real threat to the Covenant themselves. Now free from their war with the Covenant to continue expanding and forcing new races in to their ranks, collecting Forerunner technology to increase their strength. It would be like the Covenant being reborn, but worse.
Could have had them bringing war on to Humans, and Elites. With them looking for a mysterious Forerunner planet that is meant to contain a wealth of Forerunner weaponry. An obvious nod to the Legendary ending of Halo 3.
It feels like Halo.

I think I personally am just a sucker for a good underdog story, and thats exactly what Halo was. However with the whole Infiniti thing and “We are now turning the tide and going on the offence”, it just doesn’t feel the same.
Getting rid of two huge enemy factions (the real covenant and the flood) as well as adding an infinite amount of spartans took away from the feeling.
This really reignites that desperation factor and makes me want to get in there and win. The only unfortunate thing is that halo wars 2 isn’t an FPS, but it is definitely what Halo is supposed to be. Heres hoping we see Atriox in Halo 6

I agree, the sense of urgency and importance of your actions meant every Leader taken down was a huge, emotional, victory. It’s a great way of drawing you in to the story. Other than trying to save Cortana in Halo 4, I felt no urgency with the Didact, or the Warden for that matter.
I’m super hoping they don’t waste Atriox. I don’t want him to die at the end of Halo Wars. I don’t want him to be the monster of the week. I want him to be a new Big Bad that continues to show up through out future titles. If 343i want me to even consider buying Halo 6, Atriox and his Banished need to be a part of it.

I hope that by the end of Halo Wars 2, Atriox picks up the Fist of Rukt as well. That would be pretty dope
