After countless posts by myself and many others on the Bungie forums about bringing a skill based ranking system back to the forefront of Halo play I gave up and decided to put my hopes in the 343 transition. I thought for sure if 343 was going to do anything they would expand the Reach ranks beyond the one playlist that currently offers it. However to my dismay it has become apparent that this isn’t going to happen with the TU…that is unless they have decided to unveil it at a later date. Many of you whine and complain when someone talks about the ranking system because of the cheating and boosting that is inherent within any hierarchical skill-based system, but think about it, the very game that defined the FPS ranking experience currently offers next to nothing in terms of ranked play. This has taken the incentive out of playing Reach over long periods of time and it has alienated a huge segment of its population that wants their skill to be shown in more than one playlist. What is the point of revamping the game mechanics if all there is to work towards are some lame participation credits that can be earned regardless of skill level. Why punish the whole for the stupidity and ignorance of a few! Revamping the ranking system, to offer ranks to a wider variety of playlists, will reignite the fire and passion to play Halo again on a regular basis, that currently so many of us feel like we are missing out on…which is a shame because Reach is such an awesome game.

Chill dude. A lot of ppl wanted 1-50 back including me but what would have happened to the current rank system which at least a non-disregardable amount of ppl have ppl and invested in - they cant be ignored either.
I am pretty sure that 1-50 will be back in H4
Even better there should be in invidual rank like : 1312 / 2142342 players. This will motivate people even more.
To be honest, 1-50 had lot’s of flaws in it, now I’m not saying the Reach ranking system is perfect but there needs to be some tweaks done there because I’ve been leveling up for about 2 months now (Colonel to Brigader) But 150 was a really stupid idea imo due to the simple reason that good players went back to level one by making a new account and not letting the newer players level up fairly. Also the 1-50 made de-rankers which were really annoying especially if your team was doing really well.
So do you actually want the 1-50 back, I don’t.
I completely agree with the OP. Why they taken 1 - 50 out is beyond me! and before you say it was full of cheaters and boosters it wasnt. Im against cheaters, but if people want to cheat or boost let them at the end of the day its only a game… If it isnt broken dont fix it… right?

I’m sorry, 1-50 did not have a lot of flaws. Reach has lot’s of flaws. If you take time to look at Reach’s so called Arena system there is still plenty of cheating if you get up into the higher percentages. Not many people know this though because they don’t take time to play it because of the fact that it’s such a broken system. I’ve seen plenty of host booting. Not to mention the party search system is broken. A team of 4 high level Onyx’s will get into a party chat and search in parties of two and let each other know if they get into the same search and on each others team via chat. When this happens that team of 4 will end up playing two random teams of two.
You tell me who has the advantage in that situation…
Bungie couldn’t add a skill rating system because there wasn’t a skill gap to be judged off of.

Yep!
If they would just go back to the halo 2 ranking system, probably about 75% of the complaints being made wouldn’t even be relevant.
The great thing about 1-50 is that you could play games and watch your skill progress as you were playing. Me and 3 friends could sit down for a night where we played for the sole purpose of increasing our ranks. Its FUN to watch that number go up after winning games, you get INSTANT feedback on how you are playing.
The Reach ranking system sucks because you have to wait until the next day to figure out where you stack up. Its not exciting…
Yeah you can progress through the cR ranks and get an instant return but those ranks don’t mean anything in terms of skill. Its just how much time you play.
Unfortunately, I’m sure the 1-50 system won’t be coming back to Reach. It may be possible but frankly it is probably out of scope for this TU. Hopefully we see it back in H4.
