Disclaimer: I know there are issues affecting a large number of players, nobody is denying that. However, issues aside, I’ve had relative success with campaign and matchmaking (I’m aware I’m in the minority). I just wanted to see who else is having a somewhat issue-free experience, and if we could maybe talk about some of the positives of the game? It might be a nice change of place from the overall “the sky is falling” mentality on this forum. I’ve spent a couple hours overall playing, and though there have been hiccups for me (slow mm times, weird achievement stuff, the occasional freeze) the times where I’m actually playing have been fantastic, and I’d hope the same is true for many of you.
Halo CE in 60fps is incredible. I don’t remember the game looking so good, but more often than not I find myself playing with the original graphics on. The feeling of stepping out of the lifeboat onto Halo in the second level about brought a tear to my eye.
Got into a few Halo 2 multiplayer games as well and it was incredibly smooth. It’s everything I hoped it would be with dedicated servers and the 60 fps/1080p upgrade. Running through those maps again puts such a stupid grin on my face.
Halo 3 was always my favorite game, and the first multiplayer match I got into gave me a feeling I haven’t had since, well, Halo 3. BR’s on guardian, and I lost, but I’ve never had so much fun losing.
Mostly I just want to say, I know the game is in rough shape right now, and that sucks, absolutely. However, as someone who has been lucky enough to have a relatively bug/issue free experience, I can absolutely testify that when it’s working, it is a fantastic offering/experience. What they’ve set out to do with this game is incredibly ambitious, and though they’re not hitting the mark in every aspect, from my point of view, it’s been a blast thus far. I have enough faith in 343 that they’ll get the MM and other issues sorted out, and when they do, those of you that hadn’t had the chance to experience what the MCC can really be, are in for a treat. Get the current wrinkles ironed out 343, and you’ve got something incredible on your hands.
