Reunion of the Spartans

Now, if Chief and the remaining Spartans were to meet up (in-game), would you want them to show emotion? They’ve been trained not to, and for the most part they don’t. Only a couple scenes in the games do I see Chief showing the slightest emotion.

Now if he were to hug them or express how relieved he is to see them, would this make you feel good or bad?

On one hand, he’s been through hell and back being the very string that holds the fate of the universe, then being lost in space, probably assuming himself to be dead, to be reunited with the only human friends he’s ever had.

On the other hand he’s a Spartan and he should act like one. Emotion would only break his training, which could lead into a snowball affect.

Ideas? Thoughts? This isn’t anything game breaking or something like that.

It is my hope that the Chief will stay true to what has been presented of his character thus far. I deliberately avoid most of the books precisely because, while I accept that the Chief does have a human side, I don’t really want to see it. I enjoy him as a mostly silent, fully capable, and very modest super-soldier. I also hope that we don’t see any other Spartans in the Reclaimer Trilogy; while it worked in Reach, the idea of allies with comparable abilities does not fit with my idea of a Halo trilogy. The Chief is the tentpole of the war effort, and his importance would be undermined by the presence of other Spartans.

Personally, I would like to see them in the future games, but not as an AI to fight alongside. Just in a cutscene or two.
