What do you all think about Master Chief returning to the Ark to retrieve a certain artifact he may need in order to stop Cortana?
I liked playing on the Ark so I’d be ok with that.
I’ve got a working theory about how Infinite could actually end:
Cortana realizes she can’t remake the galaxy in her own image unless she wipes the slate clean and starts over. She then decides to find her way to the Ark in order to activate the Array.
There’s a BUNCH more to my theory, but I just got off work and am too tired to expand on the theory right now. Regardless, the idea is that the game ends on a bit of cliffhanger with Cortana heading to the Ark to destroy all life in the galaxy and start over. This leaves room for Red Team to enter the fray in the next installment (and for Jerome to take over as lead character of the franchise, but we don’t have to get into that now).

Returning to the Ark might also explain why we ‘know’ the Banished might be in Infinite. Hell, the legendary ending of H5 suggested that Cortana would use the Halos so I wouldn’t be surprised if something like this will happen. Start on Halo, end on the Ark.

Doesn’t mean it still couldn’t happen in a future game. The Banished are still holding the Ark, and it’s unlikely Atriox would just leave them there.

Yeah, i mean, if Atriox left the Ark, it doesnt mean that there are no banished forces left.

Not a bad idea but I don’t think 343 will reuse that same artifact retrieval concept with John again so soon, they already did with Shadows of Reach. Plus putting John on Installation 00 would require them lumping the Spirit of Fire story bubble which I doubt will happen in Halo Infinite since the game is more centered around John and his actions on Installation 07. Maybe in future installment.
Personally, since Halo Wars 3 isn’t happening, I’d be so hyped if we got DLC on the Ark where we play as Jerome.
