Just wondering what kinds of equipment you guys think we’ll be seeing in Halo infinite? So far we’ve seen the grapple shot and the drop shield but I’d like to see all the ones from Halo 3 return as well. From what I got from the gameplay trailer is that some equipment will be of the recharging type like the grapple shot and some will be single use like the shield, these also might function different in multiplayer like maybe the grapple shot will only get a set number of uses.
Personally I think some of the Armor abilities We’ve seen in past games be turned into equipment as well. The jet pack could have a fuel supply, the thruster could have a set number of uses, hologram could either be single or set number of uses, hardlight shield and promethean vision could have timers. A new one I’d like added would be a repair tool for vehicles.
What would you guys like to see done with equipment?
I actually prefer the recharging armour abilities to the single use equipment, so I hope some of them return. If Jetpack returns, it should be equipment though, but hologram should be ability. I also prefer bubble shield as an ability

Some could work as recharging abilities but others would definitely be OP if they were. Every time I play Reach in MCC I just think wow is the jet pack overpowered, however if it’s only on certain maps and as a map pickup with limited use I think it would be fine.

The Jetpack is definitely an OP one, should be limited
Personally, if we have tp have equipment in the game, I like mobility based equipment. Stuff like the bubble shield, healing orb thing, and that giant blue shield/eye blinder thing can F right off. I’m gonna be very disappointed if those kinds of equipment return. Already not a fan of the drop shield but at least it looks like it’s just a wall and not a 360 dome and you can also seemingly damage it so it’s not invincible like the bubble either. So I guess as far as returning equipment goes I’d be okay with the grav lift. As far as new equipment goes I’d like to see the H5 thrust come back.

If promethean vision is in the game I won’t touch it. That was one of the worse abilities to ever make it into a halo game man…I’ll always feel that the spartan abilities are better than equipment, some just need to be removed or modified…

Except if promethean vision gets in the game. There’s a reason thats basically an ultimate ability in other games…I mean…if its ever in the game…it should have literally 1 use, and take the place of a power up or power weapon. Too much stuff on the map imo isn’t good.
I’ll like to see the current equipment function a bit more like how halo 3 incorporated theirs where the equipment the player used could be used against you, a touch of balancing in there y’know? Take the bubbleshield as an example, when you drop the bubleshield it protected you from incoming projectiles outside of the bubble, but at the same time you couldn’t shoot out of it; And if you die, the opposite team could use that equipment you deployed against you.
Now on the question whether equipment should be limited rechargeable or a single type use really depends on the type of equipment. Something like the thruster packs or grappleshot would be too modular for a single type use (Although it shouldn’t be infinite) while something like the drop wall being rechargeable would mess with the balancing.
Nonetheless, rechargeable equipment should also try to follow the same format as Halo 3, if you die with the jetpack/grapple-shot the enemy team can use that piece of equipment against you.
New Equipment ideas:
A deployable man cannon (if the maps accommodate it of course)
A piece of equipment that changes the environment (It could make the area around the place a ricochet for example or turn the ground to slippery ice, making it difficult for vehicles to transverse)-limits will be placed

I don’t think we’re going to see loadouts in Halo again except for very specific game modes like invasion if it returns. I also would prefer single use or number of use equipment rather than rechargeable because something like a jetpack is basically a power weapon and could be spammed. However equipment like a thruster should have a cool down timer between uses so you couldn’t just use all 5 thrusts back to back.

Haha I get your hate with promethean vision it was pretty annoying but I think if it’s treated as a power weapon like you said it wouldn’t be all that bad. Overshields and Camouflage are better than promethean vision but with a single use and as a map pickup they can’t be spammed.
Health regen comes to mind, or a variation of a trip mine.
