So in the campaign Cortana is worried that when she goes rampart they will replace her with another AI or even another her but wont actually be her so to speak. I have seen some people say that maybe she will be back but it will be a different Cortana. 343 also said that Halo 5 will be “darker and grittier” which leads to think if both things are correct then maybe they will replace her…
Im really unsure on how to take the ending but this is just one thing that might happen in the coming game.
They might do. But with Halsey’s current status and John’s attachment to the original Cortana, I doubt she’ll return. If you clone someone, biologically they should be an exact copy to the letter. However it won’t be the same person. they won’t have the memories or the attachments that come with experience. They would essentially be completely different people.
Thats what im saying. 343 said that they want to dive deeper into Master Chiefs personality and having another (but different) Cortana there and seeing how he reacts, feels ect would do that very well seeing as she is one of the few people he truly cares about
I think instead we’re probably just going to see how Cortana’s death affects him. At the end of the game he was VERY sombre for a spartan. It obciously affected him pretty bad.
We might even see a slight deterioration of his character. Similiar to the character development of Rick in The Walking Dead and his change from Season 1 to Season 3. I hope he doesn’t deteriorate too much. He’s a spartan and I love the stoic, detached nature of spartans.
I think it’s the beginning of a deeper search into his character. His entire life has been nothing but training and combat. He’s been through the physical wringer with all the enhancements and subsequent injuries sustained during a lifetime of war. Not to mention the psychological impact of losing friends, compatriots and now Cortana. (She being the one person/entity that actually cared about John as a person as opposed to some mindless automaton killing machine.)
It’s going to hit him hard now that the one constant in his life is gone.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the possible friendship angle between John and Lasky. That story is just begging to be told.
