"return to form"

halo 123 allowed for instant over shield pick up
halo 123 had amazing maps like lockout blackout and guardian
a return to form they say a return to form they promise
yet what we have here is a cyborg of literally every halo
why am i still able to sprint if this is a return to form
and if i am allowed to sprint then why can i not thruster pack away along with it
why does the sniper feel like i am playing pool with a rope

Nitpicks for sure, but I respect it.

Who’s to say that there won’t be an option to swap the equipment out for a instant pick up some day?

I’d guess the idea was to make gameplay a bit more modular and freeform to tie into the rest of the equipment sandbox.

While not “classic”, it also doesn’t really affect the outcome of the desired effect.

Guardian appeared once, lockout appeared twice (once as a standard map, the other as DLC). A “return to form” doesn’t have to encompass remakes of classics right off the bat.

The map designs (outside of BTB, honestly dislike those maps) are pretty great honestly. Launch Site is a tad dull for 4v4, but there are tiers overall much like there were in previous games. For every Guardian/Lockout there’s an Isolation/Assembly.

This is just my thoughts, but seeing how “LEGO bricky” the sandbox is, I think we’re going to get some of the best mode variety in time. Right now with most of the pieces available (and just a few more added) it’s very believable that players could run classic Halo style combat matches along side Halo 5 style gameplay matches in Infinite.

  1. The sprint speed scaler allows for slightly faster movement than walking compared to previous Halo titles that turned you into a mongoose.

  2. Because the two abilities aren’t mutually aligned with each other.

Going back to the idea that the building blocks this game is teasing, it’s pure speculation, but it seems possible that we’ll get some “no-sprint” game types in the future.

You’re going to have dive into this one.

Are you just going to keep copying and pasting this and removing a different line each time to see what doesn’t get you locked? :joy:

None in Reach that I remember.

I assume Shutout was a forge map? I was referencing the maps specifically as they were made in house rather than as a forge variant.

I actually like the added mechanic of holding the pick up until you are ready to use it.

As for classic maps. Meh… I love them as much as the next person… but that’s what Forge is for. The remakes (and tweaks) will come.

Sprint is toned down well in Infinite.

As for the Sniper. Not my cup of tea… but a couple of players I hang with are good with it. Very good. And they don’t have any problems.
