RETURN TO BATTLEFIELD!? Happens too often?

Has anyone noticed this when forging? It seems like we can barely leave the tiny limits of the map before we’re forced back in, even when there is no reason for the map to be so restrictive. For example, on Impact, the map is set in space, yet I can barely outstretch from either of the asteroids before I’m being threatened. Even though the sky box is HUGE and it looks like I can go for ages. There’s no discernible reason for the forge maps to be so restrictive in free space. I can barely make any maps I want because the free space we do get is barely large enough for anything serious.

I hope that 343 can extend these kill areas further away, maybe where they’re actually needed instead of somewhere so restrictive it feels like the map is a jail cell with imaginary bars. Please thank this thread and reply with your opinions and whether or not you agree

Oh, and don’t scroll to far down, you have to RETURN TO THREAD!?

Ever since soft kill boundaries were introduced in Reach, they’ve been wayyy overused. Especially here in Halo 4

I dont use forge, but I can understand the frustration. These imaginary boundaries take the sand out of the sandbox. Not to mention part of the advantage to using a jetpack should be to get to places others can not.

Yeh, I am really frustrated by the forge mode. They have really gone overboard on dead zones. You can’t even go near water anymore which is a big tool to use as aesthetic and gameplay feature in maps.

I made this map called Lagoon in Reach: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/players/just%20dave%20man/haloreach/fileshare#!/

It was great fun and very good for competitive play based almost entirely around water. I dont think I ever saw anyone else build a map where I built this in the forge world but it looked too good to not use. It had grav lifts just under the surface of the water partly to make it look nice and partly because you could jump just into the water without dying and it would take you up to the next level if you were skilled enough not to mess up your jump.

Now though on Halo 4 you cant even get close to the water and the maps barely have anywhere you can go to really get creative. Its like all you can do is slap a few buildings around here and there on the small bit of land they give you.

It’s just disappointing when you’re given a map that looks massive like Impact and the area surrounding Ravine, but in actual fact, you’re restricted to the tiny landscape it has for no reason other than to prevent you from accidentally seeing a few pixels in the sky box.
