Return of VISR?

As y’all know, VISR is a beneficial ability for players to have their targets, allies, vehicles, structures, terrain, and weapons outlined in a color according to their classification (hostile, ally, neutral) via the HUD. This ability was introduced in Halo 3: ODST, but failed to make a return in further Halo games.

As a major fan of VISR, I’ve always wanted a comeback from it, so after a friend pointed out that Spartan IVs are equipped with VISR (scroll to equipment) I was disappointed to see it only be used for targeting enemies with arrows and for locating your teammates.

Plan of action
Just a suggestion here, but would anyone be interested to see VISR make a return in the next Halo? Honestly I’d want to see it put into all game modes, balanced to be useful only as a different way of vision rather than locating your enemies through walls, showing everyone’s location, etc.

Thoughts?

EDIT: I apologize if this OP is confusing, I was half awake when I wrote this.

Nah I would like VISR but not in Multiplayer though. Unless it gets a nerf bat.

Promethean vision = VISR.

I’d say we re-vamp the Armor Abilities and include VISR!

As we are all currently aware, Armor Abilities may very well be the most game-breaking, overpowered, piece of -Yoink!- anyone has ever seen in Halo. Along with the Armor Abilities, Halo 4 has offered player’s an updated HUD that shows all of the noobs the real time location of every single powerweapon on the map. Needless to say, this has to stop.

In Halo 5, the HUD will be returned to it’s original state. With that being said, VISR mode will be an Armor Ability that will outline every object (Weapons, Players, Objectives, etc) within visible range. This will offer newcomers an ability to adjust to Halo, and it will replace Promethean Vision.

With the addition of VISR, the re-vamped Armor Abilities will include:

  • Thruster Pack

Allows Spartans to preform evasive movements or quickly close the gap. The Thruster Pack will be identical to it’s Halo 4 predecessor.

  • Hologram

Allows Spartans to deploy holographic decoys that can fool enemies into traps. The Hologram will not suffer any changes from it’s previous incarnation.

  • Drop Shield

Allows Spartans to deploy a protective bubble that will gradually heal team mates that enter. The Drop Shield will include a barrier of energy shielding that can sustain a small amount of damage before collapsing. It will have a full recharge of 45 seconds and the shield itself will last 15.

  • Hardlight Shied

The Hardlight Shield will function identically to the Halo 4 version, but it will not offer players movement and is best used in deflecting heavy weaponry such as Rockets or Gauss Cannons. Upon activation, the HLS will protect the player for 4 seconds before collapsing. It will recharge in 10 seconds.

  • Autosentry

The Autosentry will not suffer any changes from it’s Halo 4 version.

  • VISR

Allows Spartans to locate equipment on the battlefield by outlining them on their HUD. VISR Mode will last for 7 seconds and will recharge after 10.

My suggestion for multiplayer would be to perhaps outline weapons and vehicles completely, and maybe outline enemies only if they are moving

I don’t think I’d like that, it could get even more annoying than having your HUD cluttered with Ordnance markers.

bring back VISR as a armor ability

I think bringing back VISR as an armor ability would be almost useless. It serves no benefit other than outlining what you see as friendly, foe, or ordinance. It would act almost like a cross hair for the rest of the screen.

There was a thread earlier that suggested revamping the binoculars into something that could be VISR like. I think that idea is much more suiting.

It would be cool to have back in campaign.
