How many people would like to see the return of the SMG? I personally loved the SMG and would love to see it again.

So I guess it’s not coming back. 
SMGs were great, but a big reason they were fun was dual wielding. SMG/ Pistol or SMG/Plasma rifle were awesome. I still like the SMG as a stand alone weapon but without dual wielding I don’t see them getting that much use.

I heard that there will be ten new weapons added to the sandbox. So looks like there is room :).
It is not looking likely for Halo 4 but I could see it being reworked and added as a secondary in 5, 6.

I’d love to see it come back, but it would definitely need to have it’s own specs that separate it from the Assault Rifle.
In Halo 3, Dual SMG’s beat AR, but single SMG lost against AR. Now that dual wielding is gone, they’d need to give the SMG a big overhaul. Perhaps make it short range, somewhere between the AR and Shotgun. That way, in very close quarters, the SMG will outperform the AR, but in a medium distance fight, the AR will beat the SMG.

Yeah, heard that too. Maybe a Promethean SMG? That’ll be nice.
SMG all the way! i could always kill people with it whether i had 2 or just 1, and i felt way more boss with it then with the AR
Yes! Yes! Yes!! SMG Must Be in Halo4 it is a Part of Halo! it will be a BIG disappointment if not!! & it Would be Cool to see it with a Silencer from ODST it makes it soo badass
That and dual-wielding. Those two have been so iconic to the franchise since Halo 2.

I feel the same, I used the smg more frequently that any other automatic firing weapon.
The ODST suppressed SMG please! 
I know finding a place for it would be difficult, or impossible though.
I would like it to come back. I did more killing with it than the AR.
I like the ODST SMG with the scope. Since there is no dual wielding, the Halo 3 SMG would just be a weaker Assault Rifle.
I doubt it in it’s old form.
The silenced SMG variant is far superior and more accurate thanks to the scope. Doubt we will see this gun return though. Would have been fun to see how an automatic would be with a scope. Sure as hell would make burst firing more viable down range.
Chances are, a Forerunner automatic weapon is in the cards.

But please down the recoil on that thing, its insane
