Return of the flashlight? Across all gamemode

In Halo’s 1-3 we had flashlights integrated with Mjolnir, and VISR with ODST, and night optics with Reach.

What I don’t get is why none of them came back for Halo 4, and why Reach’s custom games/forge disabled it.

I think in Halo 5 we should bring back one of these features and then make it a standard across all modes, be it campaign or forge. It makes no sense why not.

It’s was because 343i was trying to do as little as possible with Halo 4 while making everything seem shiney, I’d expect it to return in Halo 5 if 343i listen to the feedback since I miss hiding in the small corridor’s with my light, trying to figure out what’s around the corner.

I think the flashlight will be chief’s new companion in the new halo, maybe thats why he is wearing the cloak to keep his little buddy in the dark after all flashlights love the dark lol. In all serious though I don’t see why not sometimes the little features are sometimes the best : D

I prefer ODST’s night vision which outlined frenemies, especially in multiplayer. Imagine an honest-to-god nighttime map, where stealth becomes extra critical?

Don’t get me wrong VISR was amazing, but if it were the standard optic, active camo is done for. Whats the point of picking it up?

That is why the regular night vision or flashlight is better for balance.

You might not realize it, but the flashlight was actually Master Chief’s “Armor Ability”. (Same with the night vision in ODST.) When Reach introduced full-on Armor Abilities, the flashlight got left in the dust.

Then lets make it not, and return it to the D-pad.

While we’re on this subject, how about making the vehicle headlights actually affect the environment instead of being completely aesthetic like in Halo 4?

This could have compensated for the lack of a flashlight. Halo 4 has plenty of dark spots and areas that could easily be illuminated by a piloted Ghost or Hog.

The hardlight shield was pretty good at illuminating but that wasn’t always available.

Bring it on!
