Return of the brutes

So as i was reading on halowaypoint i encountered the follwoing:

> The loose religion Jiralhanae held was simple and based on lunar cycles (as Doisac’s three moons perpetually haunt its skyline). With their introduction to Forerunner theology, the Jiralhanae’s cultural divide between the Rh’tol and the Vheiloth reared its head yet again. The arguably more primitive Rh’tol only believed for strictly practical reasons, ultimately the result of blind subjugation to power. The more sophisticated Vheiloth have historically been far more open to new ideas than their opposites, adopted the Covenant philosophy without challenge, as it helped explain the inner-workings of a great many things. This generated a cultural friction and competitive infighting common to their kind, but for the time being, these tensions were controlled by Covenant leadership. After the Covenant’s destruction, most Jiralhanae survivors have forsaken Covenant beliefs.

Note the last senctence, it does not give an explicit answer. It is possible there are still remnants of brutes left in the covenant. A bit further down on the page this is stated:

> Upon integration into the original Covenant body, the Jiralhanae held a number of positions. Some of these jobs were simply an extension of their own native, clan-based organizational structure, though it became more formalized while under the banner of the Covenant. Roles included Chieftains, Captains, Stalkers, Majors, and Minors, all splintered into a number of varieties based on skein, functional and organizational placement, and the point it appeared during Covenant history. Since the demise of the Covenant in 2552, these roles have disintegrated to some degree, with many Jiralhanae returning back to their homeworld of Doisac, though some have intriguingly chosen to maintain subservient roles with various Sangheili.

Again it states that there are still brutes in whats left of the covenant. In addition, in the halo 5 forge mode there was a tab under the weapons menu which said “brute weapons”. This makes me think… Could there be a tartarus like chieftain boss in Warzone firefight? That would be great. What do you guys think?

They might even return in halo 5. There are threads going around with pictures of a red plasma rifle in the firefight trailer. It could definitely be a possibility.

I could see that as possible new enemy. They stated that there would be new mythic bosses and then states “you thought that warden was tough?”

near the mid-end of the clip you see the screen of the person flying the banshee, you can see the brute plasma rifle in the top right corner there as well for an earial view and it looks exactly like the version from h3. but yeah, brutes in firefight, possible or not?

Just because the weapon of a brute has manifested in this game does not mean the characters will return remember halo 5 is focused around forerunners and fractured covanent the made no return in 4 I highly doubt the appearance here.

I’m not sure yet. I’m kinda thinking that they’re not but I still want them. It’d just be a lot of work to create new models and sounds only for one gamemode.

Well since MP is all just a simulation, its not like the Brutes need to actually return in the real world of this universe. So there’s really no reason not to see them, if that makes sense.

Guys were the brutes a big part of of the reach campaign could that be a enemy we fight in the new maps for say like meridian ?

It’s been said before that warzone could use past bosses for epic gameplay. Tartarus for a brute map. Grave mind for a flood map. Brute weapons are making a comeback but I’m not sure Brutes themselves are coming back. Never know though. If brute scone back, do we dare release the flood upon firefight?!

rip them from halo2 aniversary :stuck_out_tongue:

343 can create any type of encounter in a warzone or firefight. They are simulations ran by spartans. Logically you would think that the unsc would continue to run simulations against all possible threats. The are several enemy factions possible for simulations. Covenants, promethians, brutes, flood, humans. All these groups pose a potential threat to the stability of the unsc. 343 show us more than just warden.

Not enough Mk 4 in this thread…
I dont think brutes are going to be in Halo 5. That would mean creating an entirely new character model with skeleton and sounds, etc. Not to mention theyd have to put them in campaign and if they can make brutes… why cant they make the arbiter look like how he is supposed to? They say it takes too many resources to make different variants of sangheli in the game yet they can make brutes?
