Personally, I feel that the ODST pistol was just awesome in ODST, though a little weak. I love how fast you could shoot it and its effectiveness at a distance. If 343i could slightly amp up the damage, I think a pistol similar to the ODST pistol would be perfect in Halo 4.
However, even as I’m writing this, I know that 343i has already decided upon a pistol, but I just want to know what you feel.
That pistol was amazing! Sure, it was basically useless against shields, but on unshielded targets it was essentially almost always a one hit kill if you shot to the head. I loved that thing and would for sure embrace its return in any future Halo game.
If you notice, that pistol is an upgraded version of the Halo2 pistol, but it had a silencer for ODST’s to be able to be stealthy so I dont think they will have Chief using it. It was a badass pistol though
Technically speaking, the only advantage it has over the M6G PDWS used by the Marines and sailors in Halo 3 are the built-in optics. Otherwise, a suppressed weapon should not outclass an un-suppressed weapon in lethality while using what is essentially the same cartridge.

Personally, I would love to see both weapons make a come back, even if it’s only in the campaign, the ODST pistol is awesome for stealth missions, there are so many times in the original Halo CE campaign where I wish I could have a silenced weapon. Hell I wouldn’t mind if 343i took some of the same combat options like Deus EX HR has, where you can be loud or quite, Deadly, or just find ways around hostels.
I would the Halo Combat Evolved pistol to make a return.
I wouldn’t expect any ODST-themed weapons to return in another Halo installment. I did love the pistol, yes, but that weapon was clearly designed to fit the stealthy, dark mood of ODST. I wouldn’t mind it back, but more than likely you’ll be seeing a loud and powerful pistol return to reek havoc among any and all who oppose the will of MC.
