For Halo 5, I would love to see this feature expanded from the way Bungie did it in Halo Reach. It would be cool if there was a wide variety of nameplates available for completing certain tasks, such as beating the campaign legendary solo or accomplishing something in a previous Halo game like Halo 4 or Spartan Assault.
So what do you guys think? Do you want nameplates to return? Do you want them to be exactly like Halo Reach’s nameplates, or do you want something similar but different?
Edit: In addition, what ideas for nameplates do you guys have?
Nameplates for owning/playing specific Halo titles.
Commendation plates for difficult / significant tasks.
-BR Icon (Loadout Mastery)
-Skull Icon (Finding all campaign skulls).
-Grunt Icon (Grunt version of kill _______ enemies commendation)
-Flag (Win ____ games capture the flag, score ___ flag captures, kill __ carriers)
-etc, basically things that would take time and be meaningful.
Special Nameplate for 343I employees only.
Nameplates were a Bungie thing. I doubt 343 would implement nameplates again. Just because it’s…not really a 343 thing? It just doesn’t “feel” 343. It was a Bungie practice, and 343 so far has steered away from “Bungie practices”, in general. For better or worse.
I wouldn’t complain if they came back though. I just don’t think they’ll feel inclined to include them.

I love that idea! Having a Spartan Laser as a nameplate for completing it would be awesome.

True. However, 343i has adopted some practices from Bungie, such as having a 343i day and posting weekly news updates. I think it would be silly for them not to do it just because Bungie did it.
> I’m down with the return of nameplates. There just needs to be more options. It seems like everyone in Reach ended up using the same one.
Agreed. I would definitely like at least 10. However, I would prefer over 20.
I feel name-plates and flames and the like are all BUNGiE icons, and I think 343i should do something amazingly new instead. It would feel hollow bringing back those features without the developer that created them.

I guess. I saw nameplates as more of a “Halo” thing rather than a “Bungie” thing. Were there nameplates in previous games made by Bungie?

There were some in Halo 2 and 3, with Halo: Reach having 12 not counting default. While 12 sounds like a lot it’s not as cool when everyone started using the nameplates related to downloading apps.

By previous Bungie games, I meant games before Halo, such as Marathon and Myth. Although, I do agree that the nameplates should be challenging in some way to receive them.

So a certain commendation mastery gives you a certain nameplate. I like that idea.
Yes they should return. I got enjoyment from being the only person in the lobby with a nameplate. Made me feel superior. Until someone came in with a Spartan helmet nameplate and made me feel inferior.
Ideas:
Forum related nameplates: You got Seventh column just by joining B.net. 343 should compliment that by giving us the digits 343. And maybe ones for having confirmed accounts on other Halo fan sites (Though there should be a criteria. 100 posts by the user to confirm they have been there and didn’t just join to get a nameplate).
Play previous entries nameplates: self-explanatory.
And the nameplates awarded for achieving a certain amount of nameplates

Maybe they could also expand it to specific vehicle commendations as well. For example, mastering the warthog commendation can give you a warthog for your nameplate or mastering the splatter commendation can give you the splatter medal as an nameplate. I would definitely love to have a warthog as a nameplate.
As long as they make it where you can change it from in the game. Call me lazy, but having to go somewhere outside of the game to get something turns me off. (I’m looking at you, H4 Terminals.)
