Return of Campaign Theater and Scoring

These features weren’t included in Halo 4 and in past titles benefited a lot of people whether it was a competition to see who scored the most on a mission or to find easter eggs that may be hard to find when actually playing. These two features really helped the speedrunning community as well.

Look at this post from the Main Admin of High Speed Halo. Without these features it obviously made their jobs a lot harder and they didn’t see a lot of new people submit runs.

It is possible to do these things without theater and scoring but it makes it more complicated. Not everyone has the same equipment or the ability to stream their runs. It also makes it easier for the admins of sites like High Speed Halo to just go in their fileshare to see if the run is legitimate and to have an official time with the in game timer from the scoring feature.

Speedrunning in Halo, however has gotten a lot of attention lately with a Halo 2 run at AGDQ 2014 and a Halo CE run at SGDQ 2014 bringing in new people. It’s the small features like this that make the game more accessible for these new people interested, helped the veterans, and definitely added more replay value to campaign.

Oh come on, the only answer to this is

Yes.

Why would anyone be against this?

I hated that it wasn’t included in Halo 4. I want…no this NEEDS to return.

It boggles my mind as to how these features were not in Halo 4 in the first place and even more so now considering they were never added in later.

Time constraints before release and no ROI if added after release.

Yes it’s a good idea. Also scoring. It was fun racking up points and seeing the medals.

The speedrunning community has always been an integral part of Halo. I hope they go all the way with Halo 5 and add all these features like they should have with 4. They have a whole studio now and much more time so I’m sure they will include them this time around.

This really needs to return. Opens up a whole new array of options. I particularly liked competing against my friends for scores or being able to go back and take a screenshot of something awesome that happened in the campaign.

Theater & Campaign Scoring must return. Also more innovative Campaign Challenges like Reach had.

What also needs to return is Campaign Commendations. That was also a big motivator for playing Campaign.

I played a ton of campaign in Reach, and because of the lack of the things I mentioned above plus other issues I have with how the Halo 4 campaign plays and had things liked forced pathways, stupid “return to battle field” barriers, and in my opinion a terrible final level (I’m looking at you generic Star wars Trench Run)I hardly played the campaign at all. Which sucked because what I love the most about Halo is the story.
