This may be a bad idea, but what if 343 put some Halo 4 maps in the Halo 5 map rotation? If I could pick them, I’d release Vortex, Longbow and Shatter as the big team maps and for Arena I’d select Pitfall, Haven and Complex.
There may be players who didn’t like any of H4’s maps and I respect their opinion, but I think that using H4 maps could be one of the ways to sastify the apparent hunger for more maps.
Issues with this idea:
It may not be popular with players.
Would the playability of the maps be affected by Halo 5’s movement options, such a sprinting, sliding and dashing?
What do you think and what Halo 4 map would you choose for Halo 5?
I would love to see Haven back in Arena. One of the best maps in H4, it flowed well and play even better.
Haven was an awesome map. I loved it because of how similar it is to Guardian in its layout and its skybox looks awesome. It’s one of the few maps from Halo 4 which I would really like to see remade. It could even work really well with Halo 5’s Spartan Abilities.

I also feel like Haven would work well with Halo 5’s different movement options. I would love to see a Haven remake added to Halo 5. Also Longbow has been remade as Recurve I believe.

SWAT was fun to play on Haven as well.
I agree that Haven should return

How about they bring every map from halo combat evolved, halo 2, halo 3, Halo Reach, halo 4 back including dlc maps.Than we would actually have an onslaught of variety for once. Plus any map and game type made is updated to halo 5, than we could have our -Yoink- on halo 5 bringing a sh*t ton of people back for custom games, maps, etc and arena would be unlike anything ever before. 100 map rotation in slayer anyone? But 343i doesn’t know how to ask 4jstudios how they converted maps. -
@OP: Would love reflection from reach, and forge island from halo 4.
Of the things I hated in H4, the multiplayer maps were the exception. I want HAVEN and VORTEX the most!
343 could also use some of Halo 4’s larger maps for Warzone, I’d highly recommended Shatter and Longbow. There’s lots of open spaces on those maps where 343 could place bosses, particularly on Shatter.
Well hey, they both run on the same engine.
Haven, Ragnarok and Vertigo could all come back and I would not even be mad.

Agreed. Haven was one of Halo 4’ s bright spots.
I don’t think its as simple as just porting them over and throwing them in the rotation.

What kind of problems would 343 have if they tried to implement Halo 4’s maps into Halo 5?
The one thing I can think of at the moment is: the maps on Halo 4 used the Xbox 360 graphics, meaning that 343 would probably have to retouch all the maps that would be used again in Halo 5, to bring them up to Xbox 1 standard.( like mini remasters)

At most all that would need to be done would be to touch up the textures on the map, as it is there is so little difference between the graphics of H4 to H5 that 343 could probably just move the maps straight over
I would love to see the H4 btb maps added to H5.
I’d love to see Haven back.
The rest? No thanks.
Landfall and skyline for me. Both amazing skyboxes and great design. Would definitely work with Spartan abilities.
Halo 4 dlc maps were better than what we currently have.

No… That’s… That’s not how that works. Halo 4 and Halo 5 use different game engines, therefore things are coded and read in different ways. You can’t just copy-paste a map from one game to another and have it work no problem.
First, you would have to take the BSP (assuming that they still use BSPs, which is the 3D model format for Halo maps), and then convert it into a format that Halo 5 can use. And then, once you’re in there, you have to have the whole map work using Halo 5’s engine. That includes lighting, textures, animations, etc. And after that, you have to redo all of the spawning, since again, the way spawns worked in Halo 4 and Halo 5 are undoubtedly different. And then, weapons have to be redone too. After all that is done, you have to thoroughly test it to fix the inevitable bugs and assure balance. Of course, Halo 4 and Halo 5 also played differently, so there will definitely have to be some modifications to the map itself to fit better within Halo 5.
So no, it’s not as easy as simply just simply moving the maps right over.
Since the next update is seemingly going to be the biggest Halo 5 update yet, I think it’d be great if 343 actually released some of the maps above into the rotation as part of the update.
What they could do is: Create a poll for all the Halo 4 maps and then take the top 5 most requested ones, remaster them for Xbox 1 and then release them.
