Reticule for beat downs

Why does this not exist? Halo is an online game and the lunges on beat downs are so unreliable.

Sometimes you can’t get a lunge on players unless you are literally on them, and other times it’s like you are having a sword. Why do we not have a beat down reticule around the reticule for the weapon itself?

Always thought when u get the red reditucle u can melee

You can melee whenever you want to though, so you were half correct.

Oh god yes. Off-host melee lunge is currently my worst experience in Halo Multiplayer to date.

It’s at the absolute worst in Halo Reach specifically. I was running across this exact bridge in Sword Base 4v4 and this guys starts jumping backwards towards me. Obviously he was trying to ninja me, but he was traveling in a straight line (or else he would fall off the bridge) so I thought that would be a free kill.

This guy misses the ninja and lands directly in front of me with his back towards me. Without getting too anxious, I proceed to walk straight into him and go for the backsmack. I’m not taking any chances. It turns red, and my melee connects with thin air on this attempt as he springs back into the air. Whatever. I back up, line myself up and prepare for another backsmack (since he has yet to actually face forward, and I believe I jumped this time) Not only does it miss again, but I got ninja’ed after missing two consecutive back smacks because it wouldn’t lunge no matter how close he got.

I thank him in my mind for not teabagging me every time I play Halo Reach, because I would have hunted his family.

By far the most unreliable melee lunge of all time.

I like the idea, but the execution could be made a little cooler maybe. Maybe it only applies to weapons designed for mid to close range. Like perhaps the screen on the AR turns red when in melee range. Our peripheral vision would pick it up, and it would give these close quarter weapons another edge over mid to long range weapons.
