Rethinking the Flood Gametype

I don’t know if this topic generally belongs here but I’ve had an idea for the future of the “Flood” gametype that I’ve wanted to get off my chest. Now before I start, I just want to state, I don’t want flood to be the replacment for Infection, but more of a variant in future Halo’s, and all I want to share here, is a way I think would bode well for the future of the Gametype. What I want to see in flood, to differntiate it from infection so it could be its own full blown gametype, is some slight rethinking on the way the spawn system works, which I feel would completely alter the flow of the game to be not something like something we’ve generally seen from a Halo before. What I’m talking about is altering the respawn for the recently infected players so that they are resurected, after a short resurection like animation, and respawn in the same place where they died, making the guy next to you helping you out one second, a possible threat the next. I feel that this variant to the Infection gametype would have many possiblities, not only in fun online multiplayer matches, but in Custom Games as well, where that feature (Spawning in the exact area where you died) could be used in a multitude of fun new minigames.

Note: that in order for this to work well, only after being infected the first time would the infected respawn in the same place where their death occured.

Just something I thought would be worth sharing, let me know what you think, maybe leave your own suggestions too.

This is definitely an interesting idea that I would love to see in the future Halo games. Flood could be a worthy enough replacement to the Infection gametype if the former added back all the elements that made Infection good. Thoughtful idea!

Definitely could make camping a challenge. If a group is camping all together, normally if one dies, they kill the murderer and continue on, albeit at decreased strength. With this idea, they’ll have to move.

Problem is, balancing that will be a huge challenge. The resurrected player would likely have to have spawn protection or they’d be gunned down immediately, but that’s a very tricky thing to pull off correctly. Do it wrong, and it’s just annoying.

totally agree
