I’m a huge BTB player, I mean there’s nothing quite like getting my friends online to play some BTB in Halo, but in H5, BTB became a joke, thrown out and forge only maps as 343i pushed their play to win newness Warzone.
This felt like the ultimate kick in the teeth for me and my friends, where Halo was once the go to game, it’s now sitting there collecting dust on the shelf (this is a metaphor as all my games are digital).
All I’m asking for is that BTB be given it’s rightful place in Halo Matchmaking and treated with the respect it deserves.
I completely agree with this sentiment and I hope BTB is given a lot of attention during Halo Infinite’s development. This is why I keep saying Warzone shouldn’t come back, it’s just going to make 343 want to replace BTB with it.
I played BTB, and especially BTB Heavies which Halo 5 lacks, pretty much exclusively in other Halo games. But in Halo 5, BTB didn’t feel the same and I found it bland, which made me sad and almost caused me to give up on the game entirely. Though it had less to do with the maps being forged, and more with how most of them felt cramped and barely had any power weapons or fun vehicles on them.
Fortunately, 343 is planning to refresh Halo 5’s BTB soon, so hopefully they will address some of those issues. If they refresh it with more cramped maps that feel like slayer maps with a Ghost+Warthog slapped onto them, then I am going to lose a lot of hope for Halo Infinite’s BTB, but maybe they will surprise me.
Can’t stress this enough, well said. It used to be my favourite mode. In H5 it missed launch and was added several months later, it has forge only maps, and H5’s mobility system does not mesh well with BTB in my opinion. I still played it a ton regardless, but then to top it off they nerfed the BR so bad a magnum is better. That’s when I stopped playing BTB and H5 all together. It was an afterthought, and after that BR update I couldn’t even at least enjoy shooting your main weapon, god I hope H6 BTB is given the attention it needs.
I agree. Warzone was just the excuse, but I’m sure as hell they earned enough money from req packs to dish out some good BTB maps. I find games in BTB way faster than I do in Warzone, so clearly there is a stronger BTB fan base and population than Warzone.
Im tired of people constantly defending giant rich companies by saying things like “oh they just don’t have enough resources or manpower to make BTB maps.” BS.
Having been forced to clock out at 7 hours and 59 mins multiple times at one of the biggest retailers and fast food companies in the U.S. I know exactly how stingy and cheap rich companies can be I can only assume Microsoft and its subsidies are no different.
The formula stays the same: maximum profit with the least amount of labor and resources possible.
Well if that means putting one of the most beloved game modes of Halo on the back burner in favor of a game mode where you can literally buy your way to a more powerful loadout, then that’s not gonna fly with me.

I hope it gets dedicated maps, don’t get me wrong sometimes Forge Maps are cool. But what happened to maps like Highlands or Valhalla?
