I was wondering if anybody else hates how long it takes to respawn.
I think they should reduce the respawn timer as enemy damage is too high for a timer increase to be fair.
The stated reason was “to promote teamwork” but as I’ve mentioned before there’s no surer way to kill that aspect of gameplay than to punish risk-taking. Whatever the circumstances are, with a 30 second wait its highly, highly unlikely that anyone’s going to stick their neck out for the sake of another player especially with enemy damage set as high as it is. Chances are both of you are just going to watching a countdown timer, so the thing to do is still to hide in safety and req-up (so that you, entirely on your own and without any input from other players, can satisfy the absolute win condition of having deployed heavy vehicles.)
Someone else is in trouble? The most immediate reaction is: “tough, it’s their fault for having eight knights spawned right on top of them.” And that’s the Warzone Firefight we have. What 343 intended was something else, and maybe with their particular group of playtesters they’re having that magical game where everyone fights in formation and calls down the precise combination of tanks and banshees required to make certain boss waves fun. But all we have is the real world, one which requires more accommodating (ie. less aggressively asinine) game design, and its unclear if 343 will ever truly recognize that in this context.
So hang the sense of it and move on. Thanks to the respawn timers, and many other factors, Firefight Warzone is a badly designed gametype. But it’s just that, and it wouldn’t be the first in Halo’s long history.
This is the solution. If you’re willing to burn 1 vehicle card and use another 343i is willing to allow you to respawn instantly.
The respawn timer is handsdown the biggest unbalance in the Firefight. One of the biggest issues with it is that it is redundant. The maps are so big it already takes 15-30 seconds to get back into the action or to the objective. And echoing what people have said, if death were a little less common it would be easier, but with so many enemies being able to kill you in literally less than half a second, it’s completely unreasonable. Less than half of the game is spent actually playing, the rest is respawning and running across the map.

I don’t hate it.
What I hate, is to see knights and prometeans spawning INSIDE the Garage or the armory while you spawn at the opposite side of the map …
