Hello… I just have a quick question because I’m having a problem getting Halo 5 to work. Now granted, I haven’t played Halo 5 in like… a year maybe? But I never uninstalled the game. I wanted to try playing the game again for a few hours but I can’t seem to log-in to the game anymore. I tried googling this Error authorizing user with Halo 5: Guardians but I can’t seem to get past this screen… From some of the suggestions I’ve seen in other threads here I’ve tried
- Hard reset of the Xbox by just holding the power button - Deleting the reserve space - Making sure there were no updates for the game - last updated 3/7/2018… Is that correct? - Just constantly restarting and launching the game and trying to log inHas anyone else had this issue and what did they do to resolve it? Like I said, I tried looking it up before I posted but none of the methods seem to fix this and I can’t sign in. I can’t even sign in to play Campaign mode or anything.
Hmm I remember having this problem in like 2015 and what ended up working for me is doing the hard reset by holding the power button but also disconnecting the power brick from the outlet. Not sure why and it could be just coincidence but it is worth a shot.

Okay! I tried hard resetting the xbox but I didn’t pull the power brick out. I’ll give that a shot, thank you!
If what hidden klmm suggested doesn’t work, try doing the same to your router/modem. Others in the support section have experienced the same issue and one of these two seemed to have solved the problem. That said, I’m going to move this to the support forums. Let us know if you get it fixed.
Oh, and welcome back to Halo.

Welcome back OP, another user was just asking me about this same exact problem last week and I told him it would fix itself. Sure enough 2 days later he was able to play again, can you still play customs?

Thanks for the replies! I unfortunately had to go yesterday after trying this for an hour or so and then just ended up playing MCC for a few games since I couldn’t get it to work, but I’m trying again this morning and it’s still giving me the same error.
- I tried completely disconnecting the power brick; both to the xbox and disconnected the cable from the outlet to the brick and separated them. - At the same time, I also completely shut off my modem and router and waited about 5 minutes before turning everything back on this morningAnd unfortunately it’s still giving me the same error. I read somewhere on reddit that someone was having the same issue and how they fixed it is just constantly restarting and launching the game – which is why that was one of my initial attempts listed above – however, I guess I just have to keep getting it to work.
But Baller 4 Lyfe, unfortunately no, I can’t get pass the initial start screen so I can’t play anything.
I guess a silly question I have is… Am I banned or something? I haven’t like… Done anything, at least to my knowledge? I just haven’t played in a long time…

Well it has happened to me before. I just kept trying to launch it everyday until it let me in. Meanwhile I was playing MCC or Reach.

No, if you were banned it wouldn’t manifest itself like this.
It would definitely suck to do since the game is so big but you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the game?

I can try that later, sure, but I think it’s just something specific to my account.
Okay so like… I made a new account just now. It’s gamertag was like… InnateMemo23124 or something like that – I don’t know, just one of the random gamertags Xbox gives you. And I tried logging in and it works perfectly fine. There was also another older account that my sister uses when she plays and hers logs in just fine. It’s just my account that’s not working and it’s not making any sense because I don’t know why making a brand new account works with no problems but this account is just locked out.
Sorry for all the problems, just really confused. If it’s taking too much time to listen to me whine, you can feel free to ignore me haha. I’m just trying to figure it out. Either way, I guess I’m just stuck on MCC or something until it fixes itself. I’d really rather not start over on a new account, but I’ll see. Thanks for helping anyway!
Okay! So I finally fixed the issue and the problem for me was specifically my account and I kind of thought to myself since making a new account worked perfectly fine… Maybe I should just like… Delete my account and redownload my account back on the Xbox. Sure enough after deleting my account and readding it, I can log in and out of Halo 5 with no problems.
Problem resolved. Although, I imagine that this is kind of troublesome for people who don’t want to delete certain save data on their Xbox. That’s just how I fixed it.
Locking since issue resolved. Feel free to make a new post if another issue arises.
