I did the cross game playlist for 343 guilty spark, the one with 2 missions from Halo 3 and one from Halo CE. I got the achievement for completing a cross game playlist (I dabble in slaying), but the seasonal challenge did not unlock. Is it tied to a specific cross game playlist or something?
Sometimes the challenges can be delayed with unlocking. Try closing out of the build / and restarting the game. If that doesn’t work you can open a ticket with halo support.
Yes, any cross game playlist should count for the challenge. I think I did the same one as you last season.

Did you do all 3 levels after the season started, or did you already complete 1 or 2 before the new season?
I first completed a playlist i already had 1 mission done for and it didn’t unlock. When i tried a playlist completely from the start, it did unlock.
Have you tried quitting your game and restarting it?
I can’t speak to having a problem with this specific challenge, but there have been a few in the past where I know I should have completed it (say it display 6 out of 7 Halo: CE or Reach games completed - but I know I completed 7.) I’ll force quit the game on my Xbox and restart it, and then when I boot back up the challenge is completed.
It seems that Quick Resume (or the original Xbox One version) doesn’t play well with Challenges in MCC. To be safe I’ve been quitting MCC each time when I’m done, at least when I’ve got Challenge progression in mind.

I started the playlist after season 8 launched a couple of days ago.
I did the Get in the Ring one and the challenge unlocked.

I restarted it from the beginning and I didn’t get anything but the same achievement. It’s messed up

Happen to me aswell. MCC challenge system is broken. Try a different Playlist
Yes, try to restart your PC and reload MCC and see if it was unlocked.
Not only did completing the “Get in the Ring” playlist not earn me the Advancement, but on the cross-game playlist menu, “Get in the Ring” still reads “0/3 Complete”, even though I’ve played through it multiple times over the past few months.
I made a separate topic about this in the MCC support forum. I was able to unlock the challenge. What I did was replay a playlist I already completed in one full go, rather than doing a playlist I’ve yet to complete. For example, when I first played the Me and My Hog playlist, it was my first time completing it and it didn’t unlock the challenge and I played it in separate sessions. However, I went through the same playlist a second time in one full go and it unlocked for me then. Maybe you guys should try this if you haven’t already.

Because their “submit a ticket” process is a hassle 
I would report more things in this manner: record a clip of the issue, share it on Twitter to @HaloSupport = have they actually respond and acknowledge legitimate issues there. That would be much less hassle + I can show proof with clips. Unfortunately this is not an option?
FYI I did the cross game playlist, my friend got his challenge🏆 but I (the host) did NOT🤔 We are both on Xbox One.

Ok thanks. Maybe I’ll try that when next week’s PVE challenges deck updates. Not wasting time on that now👎
I re-did the same playlist by restarting it (343 guilty spark - 3 missions). this time I did the playlist in “one session\one sitting”. The season challenge then unlocked.
One thing I noted in the older run was that in the first mission the score was recorded as 0, even though I did not add any 0 score skulls (I actually cant as this is a playlist), don’t know if this helps.
I’m having this same issue. Did one last week but quit half way through to add a buddy and thought that might be why it isn’t popping. Did another one just now by myself in one sitting and still nothing.
I did get in the ring last weekend in one sitting last weekend and the challenge unlocked. Glad your playlist issue was resolved.
Definitely still an issue. This one can take well over an hour so…. Pretty lame
