Resistor - Another Thing We Didn't Ask For

Bravo 343, Bravo.

You managed to go a decent amount of time without doing or saying anything to disappoint a large portion of the Halo fanbase, or without doing anything to further damage Halo 4.
In fact you were in the habit of doing mostly wonderful things for the game.

In all fairness, I was always there to acknowledge the things you did right for Halo 4 and I always made sure to voice my satisfaction on these forums.
Just as I damn well make sure to voice my dissatisfaction with your decisions when you do wrong by Halo 4, and that is what I am here to do now.

I was loving being at peace with what you guys were doing, it honestly felt great.
But here we are again, back to square one.

Why?

Resistor - That’s why.

For those of you who do not know, Resistor is a new armor mod that will be coming with the Champions Bundle.
It “allows Spartans to maintain their full mobility and dexterity while taking incoming fire.”

It’s no secret that many Halo fans (what percentage we don’t know) disagree with sprint being in Halo.
One of the main reasons being that it allows players to escape encounters more easily, as their enemy will have to stop shooting in order to chase them at an equal speed.

Instead of listening to our feedback and respecting our dislike of many of the effects of sprint on gameplay, you have decided to create something that will ultimately worsen the main problem that sprint causes to Halo 4.

What’s next? Will there be a title update that ensures every Personal Ordnance drop will have an Incineration Cannon in it?
Will you claim that this is what fans have been begging for all this time?

Will Rocket Launchers be made a primary loadout option, with a bottomless clip?
Will your excuse be that using anything other than a power weapon is too much like hard work?

As a team, I really think you need to re-evaluate your view on how a Halo game should work, because at the moment you are getting far too many things wrong, and I say that with the best of intentions.

Also, recharge. A faster recharge rate should have been global after the weapons tune, but instead is being used the same as many other perks, removing what should be a standard feature to cut out a place for an unwanted perk.

Respect gained has been lost, 343. This is starting to get disappointing.

I completely agree with both of you.
This is very disappointing news.

Even disregarding the concept of Resistor and perks in general, just for a moment, it will be imbalanced because it will most likely be leagues ahead of the other perks.

As for Recharge, it’s definitely not ideal, but it’s something. Can’t shield delay be edited in customs though? As hivemind has a longer delay.

Is there a link to the article where they have stated the effects of these package/upgrades?

These mods are a bad idea.

 1. Recharge- Time for the delay in shield recharge should be the same for every one. If 343i wanted to have faster shield delays then they should have done it with the weapon rebalancing like people were asking for. And if memory serves me right 343i, in a pre-release podcast, had mentioned they played around with this and they ditched it in favor for the shield perk we have now because of balancing reasons.

 2. Survivor- People should not be magically ejected from a vehicle when its about to blow up. If the vehicle driver is making bad plays or the opposing team good ones to put the vehicle in a state where it blows up then the driver should be punished.

 3. Resistor- Enough people are yoinking about sprint as it is. The slow down mechanic is its balancing feature, remove that and sprint truely does become over powered and annoying. I foresee lots and lots of butt hurt and yoinking as a result of this.

The amount of time it takes to begin recharging shields after taking damage (in seconds) and the speed that you recharge shields at (in % of the default) can be edited in customs, yes.

“Survivor” and “Recharge” were announced on a Major Nelson podcast. “Resistor” was found in a press release here http://worthplaying.com/article/2013/7/6/news/89850/

yeah it’ll be annoying shooting a guy and he just runs away.

Just one more annoying thing I have to keep an eye out for when playing.

i didnt realize till just now, but halo has become pay to win amazing.

This^. I’m not sure why this wasn’t bumped up to the “old” standard with the weapon tuning. Just like Resupply. It should be a standard. So I can pick up anything off an opponent but grenades… what?

I posted earlier today in another thread regarding these perks and only said this was no different than LE buyers getting early access to all eight specializations early. Well, here’s what I think in a nutshell.

Honestly, I love everything about the upcoming DLC except for the new perks. As if we didn’t have enough of them ultimately hurting the game already. Probably around 80% of forumgoers I’ve seen, and a lot of people I talk to on XBL, are not in favor of sprint, yet the geniuses at 343 decided to potentially make it a bigger game-breaker than jetpack with Resistor. Survivor is just stupid, and as for Recharge, the recharging delay should have been shortened with the TU because of the weapon buffs.

And at the above, I don’t get why we can’t pick up grenades without Resupply also. Why the hell is something that’s endemic to Halo get removed suddenly (kind of a rhetorical question)?

Sprint was the only AA I used in Reach because of its ability to bail me out of a tight spot. It’s the only reason I have as many Perfections as I do in that game. This new armor mod really adds nothing we all haven’t dealt with before, and that’s annoying sprinters. As the kill times have be changed for the weapons, it makes sense to give people the option to get out of there quicker. I for one, am all for this mod.

> i didnt realize till just now, but halo has become pay to win amazing.

The mods are being given to everyone for free.

This is 100% true.

Check the bulletin everyone.

I don’t think it’ll be as bad as everyone’s making it sound. In the Bulletin, it said you’ll have full mobility for a few moments. I’m hoping this means only a second or two!

thats fine ill be able to pick up nades and rechage faster like h3 oh wait…
