Reserved Judgement

So I have read people debating about the outcome of halo 4. Some say they won’t buy halo at all. Some are worried about Halo 4 based on what we have heard so far. We have had arguments about which will be better DMR or BR. Now I love to have these discussions as much as anyone else. But are you going to hold off on your permanent judgment of the game until you actually play it or are you already making your decisions. Personally I have my reserves but until I play halo 4 on November 6th I believe I will keep optimistic and excited.

I’m excited, but I wouldnt say optimistic. I would have to say realistic. Although I’m excited about h4 there are things that I’ve heard that I don’t like and some things I do like. Until the game comes out and I play it for an acceptable amount of time, I wont pass judgement. At most ill state some opinions, but nothing over the top.

I guess campaign will be good, and spartan ops sounds sweet, but with no dedicated servers MM will be slow, true skill broken and lag a natural part, just like our bellowed Reach. Hence I see no other option then to pass on Halo 4 until 343i fix this mistake, or I’ll rent it or buy a used copy (no r3evenue to the devs from used copies) and play campaign and spartan ops, since MM will be bad.
Sure, the new ideas might be good, AAs, new weapons, even perks might be fun. But with the slow and laggy p2p, it’s simply not worth it. Not when pics and rumor seems to say that even CoD has dedicated servers, and if even if it doesn’t, it will steal a great part of the population and hence the Halo 4 MM will be as bad as Halo Reach is now, but a week after release, since p2p can’t work with a low population. I can only hope 343i fixes this, the gravest mistake in Halos history, before it’s to late and Halo 4 becomes a game with great potential flawed to the core and unplayable due to lag, blackscreens, host advantage etc. :frowning:

I don’t know what version of REACH you’ve been playing but networking wise, Reach has given me little to no trouble at all.

Let me guess, you’ve never played any game with dedicated servers, you seldom play Halo Reach and you live in the US?
I’m no wizard, but I say at least 2 of the 3 must be right for you to make such statement. You’ve never played games with dedicated servers and hence got no idea what the difference is, the “smoothness”, or at worse you’ve got a bad TV with horrible input lag and hence you won’t notice.
You seldom play Halo Reach, and hence you’ve never had any real issues, you play once in a while with friends but never for longer periods of time, and hence you’ll never notice the lag.
Or, last but not least, you live in teh US, and preferably near other Halo players, and since you live close it’s a more LAN then WAN, at least to you. I don’t live in the US, I live in Sweden (EU), got a 100/100 and can play most games flawlessly, however Halo has a tendency to give me (and friends) hosts from US, Mexico, Japan or even Australia, and hence the minimum delay is around 250-300ms, minimum.

Let me rephrase so you might know what I mean…
Blackscreen, you’ve seen them right? (host change)
You’ve seen fail of the week videos, with random event happening (lag), grenades appearing out of nowhere (see this week) or similar, all p2p related.
You’ve never shot a guy, without him noticing, or shot a guy only to have him kill you despite the fact that he “should” be dead?
Never seen a betray in living dead when you kill your killer?
Never gotten a bulltrue even if you were killed by the sword?
If you say yes to that, either your luck is so extreme it can’t be measured and you and/or a friend or someone nearby, pulls host every time, or you’ve simply not noticed (or chosen not to, since it makes Halo boring to play when you know certain players get huge unfair advantages/disadvantages). Even so, wouldn’t you want for those things above to dissipater, shouldn’t we all be able to play without them?

I will buy the game.
I will play the game

Will the game be as great as H2/H3 or more like Reach a let down in my mind – still unsure about that / only time will tell

For the most part im waiting till I play / Remember they can and will probably have to do at least 1 or 2 Updates …
