Required DLC

I paid for DLC.
I would like to use it.
All DLC should be required for most playlists. cough halo3 cough
This would add a great deal of versatility, anyone else getting bored of the same old maps? Plus the new ones are all forge world.

Discuss: Should the DLC be required. Why, why not?

Team Slayer and BTB should both get DLC restrictions.

I agree.

I understand that some people didn’t want to pay for DLC, but that was a LONG time ago. They really have had more than enough time to save up enough to spend a few bucks on DLC. It really is frustrating wanting to get my Halo fix, but constantly having to play Forge World maps in BTB and Snipes. We have enough maps to go around and to keep it varied enough. They just need to be used. I paid for DLC because I wanted multiplayer maps created by professionals, not built in FW. If possible, lower the price seeing as they have been out for a while, and make it necessary to have Noble in certain playlists and both in others (BTB). I’m not to concerned with the details, only that I would like to see the DLC. I don’t need a playlist. I just need to see it present in matchmaking.

I have yet ONCE to play on Highlands and Breakpoint in BTB, yet I constantly get Rasu, Spire, Boneyard, Wayont, Delta Facility and Hemorrhage.Which is fine in terms of amount, but they are poorly designed, have bad balance, and have the same environments. The diversity of maps is what makes matchmaking great, and that isn’t happening right now. I love Highlands, and I can never play it.

Halo 3 had implemented required DLC in a similar stage of its life cycle, there’s no reason why Reach can’t do the same. Lower the price, put in the restriction, but keep playlists like regular Team Slayer free of the requirement so some can still play, but those who paid for the DLC shouldn’t be hurt by those who chose not to, although I haven’t a clue why one wouldn’t buy DLC based on Reach’s default maps :stuck_out_tongue:

Considering halo 4 is in a month I don’t think there is any point in making DLC requirements. A few months ago I would have agreed with you though.

> Halo 3 had implemented required DLC in a similar stage of its life cycle, there’s no reason why Reach can’t do the same.

It worked in Halo 3 because people thought the DLC was worth buying. That isn’t the case with Reach: most people don’t want to invest any more money in this game, and frankly, I don’t blame 'em. :\

If the DLC was made free and required, then that’d solve the problem for all involved. The chances of 343i/Microsoft making any further profit off of the DLC is already near-zero, so they have little to lose. Meanwhile, they make their consumers happy, even if it’s too little too late.

But forcing people to pay more money for Reach, when Halo 4 is so close to being released, will just kill Reach sooner.

Valid points. I do agree with that 343i should not make consumers pay for DLC at this point, and I also agree about not blaming people for not putting money into Reach. Although, in my case I thoroughly preferred having the DLC and, as an avid BTB player, I mainly played the DLC playlists/Anniversary BTB/Defiant etc until they either died or were removed. I didn’t play BTB during that entire time and this was because of the maps. I also play a lot Snipes and SWAT. I’d like to have the DLC in those playlists too.

I was more considering it from 343i’s point of view in terms of money, but I do agree with you, they should make them free and make them required. I think something like this a month before Halo 4 might even help Reach’s population leading up to Halo 4’s release. Something of a good faith gesture to those of us who still want to play Halo and paid for the DLC a year and a half ago, and I have no issue with it being free now - I just want to have it come up!

I really would love to get my DLC achievements, but I can’t, thanks to 343i.

I would have liked to use my DLC maps more but at this point it would do no good. At least Halo 4 is making DLC maps easier to get. Given the fact that there will be a couple year gap between Halo 4 and Halo 5 343i will need strong DLC content. They should make it required after about 7 months of Halo 4’s launch.
