ok so we all know the legendary ending of halo 3, now right at the end we see blue-white light come from around the planet, i always thought this was a sun, but now we can see from halo 4 trailers that this light at the end of halo 3 matches the light in the halo 4 trailers, so could requiem be open at the end of halo 3?
Probably
I got chills when I saw that part.
when i first seen it i always though it was the light of a star/sun shining on it.
Looks to me as though there is a sun shining around the outline of Requiem, it doesn’t appear to me as though it’s opening.
I was always confused about this. Was Master Chief just floating around the planet for 4 years and the Prometheans or whoever opened the planet just said," -Yoink- it, just let him in."

No.
They have been drifting. It took 4 years to get to Requiem.

Then what was that planet in the Legendary Ending of Halo 3?

That was Requiem.
The Legendary Ending takes place 4 years after the Chief went into cryo. Not directly after he went to sleep.
It took about four years of drifting in space for Cortana/Chief to make towards Requiem. That’s the time the Legendary ending takes place; four years after Halo 3 and the start of Halo 4.
Requiem= Legendary Planet from Halo 3 just clear that up.

Holy crap that makes sense now. Thanks.

i thought the same thing, why would it be opening when the ship wasnt gonna reach it for another 4 years it definitely just looks like light from a sun shining on it.
