We could make MLG ranked, but leave it in the community hopper. Not all ranked playlists need to be in the competitive hopper.
Edit: Just for the hell of it, I made Grifball ranked as well. Some people enjoy lpaying it competitively. Both Grifball and MLG will remain in the community hopper though as they are community-built playlists.
I really doubt they’re going to have a classic playlist/settings and to be honest I don’t see why they need one. If people wanted to play “Classic” Halo they can easily pop in thier Halo 3 or Anniversary/Reach disc.
One thing is certain: Having too much playlists is bad for matching people up correctly because of the lower player count per playlist. The algorithm has a harder time finding people.
Halo 3 had like 11 playlists. Reach has 26…
The fewer playlists, the better. Less is more.
The first that should be left out are living dead and grifball, imo. Halo is about being an iconic first person shooter. Not the zombie or mini-game gametypes. We rarely saw grifball, living dead and rocket race in H3, and when we finally did get to play it in a weekend, it was twice as fun.
Not including those gametypes to matchmaking would improve the quality and fun of the competitive playlists while still allowing us to play it once in a while when they return in the weekends.

If you have playlists that cater to everyone then the populations of each playlist will grow. Reach didn’t do that as it only catered to 1 crowd.
> Halo 3 had like 11 playlists. Reach has 26…
Because Halo 3 had far less gameplay variety than Reach. Back then there was no such thing as community or cooperative playlists and there was only 1 DLC playlist. Removing those from the list will nearly cut the total in half, but I think the way cooperative is setup is fine, and community playlists could probably be weekend playlists but you will get drastic amounts of bickering from the community until they get Infection and Grifball.
Another thing you’re forgetting is that the reason Halo 3 has so few playlists is b/c Bungie condensed them all to make way for Halo Reach. You could probably add another 5 playlists to that Halo 3 total back when it was in it’s prime.

If you followed whats happening with halo 4 frankie said a few times that CLASSIC HALO will be in halo 4. what do you think this means? That there will be playlists with classic halo settings.
He also said that there will be ways for fans to enjoy a classic halo experience so thats even more proof.
Its so annoying when people who dont research the confirmed statements try go speculate xD
> That’s just too many playlists, and it will segment the population far too much just like Reach.
If you have playlists that cater to everyone then the populations of each playlist will be much larger. Reach didn’t do that as it only catered to 1 crowd and the playlists suffered.

alot of people like playing those gametypes whenever they wants. whats the difference of ppl being in that play list during any day or them not playing the game at all when the hopper is not active

The more playlists there are, no matter how well they cater to every crowd, the less players there will be in each playlist. We will still suffer from less than adequate matches in terms of competitiveness, and good matches will be harder to come by.

This is why I left both in the casual hopper as both are VERY popular despite their non-Halo gameplay style.
I consider myself a competitive player, because I follow a lot of MLG, high-level gameplay, and I try to participate in it myself, etc.
But I don’t want to be isolated to ranked play. Sometimes I do want to just play in social playlists. If AAs, and non-cosmetic armor changes go into social, I don’t see how that’ll be possible for a lot of the population.
Like I’ve been saying, I don’t want to be forced to play a single playlist or two because everything else just contains too much gimmicky BS to be passed off as ‘Halo’.
